Surely he's not good enough for Glasgow Rangers! Must be QPR, they're about his level these days.

Rekindled rumour

http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528, ... 73,00.html

Hermann Hreidarsson is set to leave Portsmouth before the close of the transfer window, skysports.com understands.

The Iceland international is out of contract in the summer and he is unlikely to sign a new deal.

The 34-year-old is hoping to secure a move away from Fratton Park this month after growing frustrated with his lack of first-team opportunities.

Hreidarsson has dropped behind Nadir Belhadj and Armand Traore in the pecking order and a number of clubs are waiting in the wings to sign the versatile defender.

Scottish giants Rangers, several Premier League teams and Championship sides Reading, Ipswich and Charlton are all believed to be ready to offer him a route out of Portsmouth.

The player's agent Olafur Gardarsson has confirmed Hreidarsson is likely to move on this month.

"I expect Hermann to leave Portsmouth in this transfer window," Gardarsson told skysports.com.

"He has six months left on his contract and I don't think he will be signing a new deal.

"At the moment he has a couple of options available to him as there are some Premier League and Championship clubs interested in him.

"We hope to make a decision on Herman's future by next week."

This one came up again in The Mail today.
When first mentioned I thought "No,too old and we don't want a Keown or Ferdinand again where clearly both were way past their sell-by date".
On reflection this is a genuine left-footer who could cover at left-back and provide something we don't already have at the club,a left-sided centre-back.
Subject to fitness and a shortish-term contract why not?
As ever there is a connection,he used to play for Palace.

He played for Brentford too don't forget!

I don't think he'd be a bad addition to be fair. Granten he's not the quickest, but he's always been a decent player and knows what he's doing.

Not really as he's quite a well thought of defender!

Coppell also signed him in 1997 when manager of Crystal Palace. Hermann has played 440 league games (297 in the Premiership).

Good news. Bit more experience, quality player.
Experience could really help in a promotion bid, not the most needed position but no complaints.

I think he could add a great bit of quality and strength to our team. Although Rosinier has done well all season, Hreidarsson would give us more of a defensive edge. He's useful in set pieces aswell! Sounds great news to me.

Dont think we need him unless its a loan.

Bikey cant even get in the team and yesterday didnt even make the bench. We still have Pearce also.

If Armstrong got injured think we would use the "emergency loan."

IMO hes not much better than Bikey, Doobs or Ivar, SC had him at Brentford though which is a plus point.
