Many people who think they did not know Mr Tranter will have seen him at STAR meetings. He was President of STAR and was usually at Fans' Forums. HIs interest in the welfare of the club has never wavered and we can all revere his memory for what he has done. Many supportes will want some form of monument to him for all that he did for the club.

The Quiet Man RIP and thanks for everything you have done for RFC.

Amen to that. It's difficult now to believe how close the Bouncing Czech came to doing away with our club. There's a short documentary accessible FOC from a link at the bottom of this OS page http://www.readingfc.co.uk/page/NewsDet ... 84,00.html that is well worth watching.

Quite simply Reading FC would not be here today if it were not for him, Jim Brookes and Roger Smee. Thank you for all you did Roy........RIP

Getting the better of a scumbag like Maxwell is the kind of memory I'd love to take with me when I leave this world.

Envious and very grateful. RIP

Really sad to hear of Roy's passing.

Always a gent, Royal to the core and well deserving of a plaque alongside Mr Evans.

RIP Roy.

A generous man, generous with his time and money. He liked a laugh and he did us proud. RIP Roy.

A sad day, indeed. Roy Tranter - along with Jim Brookes and Roger Smee - saved RFC.

One of the real unsung heroes along with the likes of Frank Orton and Maurice Evans.

There's another star in the sky tonight.

Roy even had the players working for his cleaning contracting company during the summer months of the division 4 days! A man who loved RFC as if it was his own child and in his own way as important to the survival of our club as Mr Mad. I am glad to have met you during the fight against Maxwell Roy and your tireless work and subsequent important place in RFC annals will be remembered. RIP.

A man who saved the club should get remembered properly. Give him an applause or silence at our next home game.

RIP

Roy was a lovely fella, and as Hugo stated, had many many stories about the club, some cracking ones about some players, i remember him working with my dad (a leading councillor in Reading at the time) plotting Maxwells downfall, he was adamant that the merger wouldn't happen and so it didn't, memories of my pa being on Newsnight with Maxwell, meetings at Roger Smees house (Lenny Henrys house in Hyde End Lane), and listening in to Roy making calls to Maxwell and his solicitors/lawyers, someone that the club should remember and the minutes silence should be a minutes applause, so you guys get to thank him for the club you have today, obviously Sir John is a pivotal point, but without Roy, there would be no club.

A minutes silence on Friday would be totally inapproriate in my view for someone who had such an important influence on the history of RFC. Instead, we should instigate a minutes applause to recognise and celebrate the achievements of this true Reading legend without whom we may not have a club today.

RIP Roy, I'll always remember your positivity and optimism in the face of Maxwell's near death knell!

Truely a Reading legend and I love the fact he had an telephone box in his front garden.

Maybe the first 30 seconds could be silence, followed by 30 seconds applause.

Then everyone will be happy (if that's not an inappropriate phrase in this instance)

Just a thought.

No. I'll stand in the centre circle with a flag and hold it aloft when the 1st 30 seconds are up.
