Another de la Cruz type figure, perhaps? Would definitely approve of this one.

well like i said when the rumour came out. i think he's a solid player and 34 isn't that old. we could use some more experienced players too. anyway the daily mail say we've signed him so it must be true:

Hermann Hreidarsson will become the latest player to leave Portsmouth after Reading pipped Celtic to sign the Iceland captain for a nominal fee.

Hreidarsson frozen out at Fratton Park, has welcomed the opportunity to rejoin Steve Coppell, who brought him to England 11 years ago when in charge of Crystal Palace.

The 34-year-old was brought to Portsmouth from Charlton by then manager Harry Redknapp in 2007.

Also Scott Brown sounds like a right old whinging moody moaning typical scot with a massive battered chip on his shoulder, and I for one wouldn't want him at the club with his I'm bigger than you attitude

Has to be true! EP says SC's priorities are a striker and a winger so we sign a centre back.

Have we, who's that then? As Hreidarsson is a Left Back...

This might just be an unexpected opportunity that's too good to resist. Besides, it gives extra cover at left-back and left midfield (ie Stretch can play at left-mid at a push).

In various papers today so i think this will happen today/tomorrow.

cant see a problem with this - I expect it will be an 18 month contract which means we have cover for once in the left back position.

My onloy nervousness is if Bikey goes - which would mean we start to have a somewhat ageing defence with Hreidarsson, Murty, Duberry and Ingimarrson on the books - although these are basically on short term contracts.

It's a bit of motivation if needed for Stretch, he's close to being my POTS so far.

As I've said before, would add quality and experience to the squad. If Celtic were also interested then he must have something about him still. Very astute signing IMHO.

That's how I see it.

Also, 18 months means we get a possible season where his experience and knowledge of the game would be of a lot of use. Further to that, I can't see another top flight season in Doobs, so its possibly a future replacement for the big man.

A transfer tactic I wholeheartedly approve of.

Doesn't say much about Bikey's role at the club though.

Is that like a default post you make?

Hoop Blah He played for Brentford too don't forget!

I don't think he'd be a bad addition to be fair. Granten he's not the quickest, but he's always been a decent player and knows what he's doing.

A potential de la Cruz?

Not really as he's quite a well thought of defender!
