Alan Partridge Donny is a well used term by lots of people, it's not quite as sad as giving yourself a nickname that no one ever calls you.
2 examples.
1. Paul Ince - The Guv'nor. I have never encountered anyone that has ever referred to him as this.
2. Chelsea Football club - Chels.

Dirk GentlyDeathyHarry Carry I h8 people that call them Donny. Fooking Soccer AM loving numptys.
A lot of the yokals also call them Donny.
My extended family who live there call it Donny.
