andrew1957 I am astounded by the "we all love Leroy" attitude on here today after people have been criticising him for the last two seasons.

The truth is he is not a patch on Noel Hunt and has zero chance of starting in place of either Hunt or Doyle. He has had virtually no impact for Reading this season or last season. The only way I can see him getting starts is if we get an injury to either of our first choice strikers - unless we start playing 4-3-3 with three strikers - which is very unlikley. He may get a few sub outings this month in the vague hope that a PL club might start to show some interest and we can get him to change his mind - but then back out on loan he goes.

Therefore, I expect that he will continue to have little impact for the remainder of this season and then go and negotiate a deal somehwere else. I really hope I am wrong but that I what I think will happen.

This is where the Bosman rules stink really because they put all the power in the player's hands.

LOL. Jog on you mug. Once Hunt has proved he can score goals in the prem, then you maybe could make that kind of ridiculous statement.

Lita got 8 goals in our first in the Prem and one in the second...................so he's yet to reach double figures in the top flight.

Furthermore, according to one of Fridays match reports, that was his first goal at the Mad Stad since Feb 2007 :|

Does anyone doubt that the club were prepared to accept Sheff U's offer?

Anyone who thinks we would have taken twice that figure for Noel Hunt really is a mug.

To be fair to Lita, it's hard to see what he would have gained by such a move at this stage and, looking on the bright side, if he manages one more league goal before the end of may, that would represent 100% improvement on last season...............................go, Leroy!!!!

How I hope Lita stays and finally rams your obsessive criticisms back down your throat!

Another possibility (which might have already been mentioned) is that rather than the club wasting hours negotiating with Sheffield United only for Lita to turn them down out of hand, the club could have said to him that an offer was made and while not accepted, would there be any chance of him wanting to join them if terms between the two clubs could be reached. He could have said no way and that was it.

Lita is in a strong position and the club know that, you can't compare it to other players at the club who are on longer contracts. He can sit out the next 6 months and then take a share of the transfer fee - as he would have seen with Sidwell. Therefore why would the club spend time negotiating with the knowledge that Lita is unlikely to accept due to a big pay day in the offering in June.

Not saying this is the case, just a thought.

So Lita intends to stay with us until the end of the season. Have a stonking remainder of the season, score sh1t loads of goals, see his personal standing go up, see us promoted and then leave - job done.

Somehow i sniff a contract extension.

In today's Post, Coppell says how Lita is back and looking good in training etc etc. All the right soundbites that you expect to hear a manager say when talking up his players.

Interestingly though he says how some players in the team can get frustrated and distanced from the team and how Lita seemed to get that way last time round. That's not quite the story we heard before from Coppell or Dillion.

Whilst I accept they're not going to slag off a player on the books, some people need to remember this when believing everything that comes out of the club is gospel.

Lita is opportunistic. If a Premier league club looks to sign him he will go. Otherwise, he will stay

Why don't we see what happens in the summer. There is a difference between saying you want to stay this season and turning down a team whith play off hopes at best and wanting to actually stay and play a part in the club for the longer term winning a contract extension.

There are some good indicators, much better than I thought there would be. I don't think Lita was likely to accept a step down to leave us. I expected one of the more desperate Prem clubs to put in a firm and acceptable bid.

Hope he stays and signs a contract extension! he seems to have matured in his time at Norwich and is raring to prove a point to us fans!

he proberbly wont start but hell definatly get used as a sub and keep Doyle and Noel on there toes and if they screw up hell be in!

Another upside we dont have to use Long anymore

Perhaps so concerning Long but as with Watford, when the game seems to be playing out for a win, Long will be on. Ditto for Lita. Barring injury i cannot see Lita breakng up the pairing of Nunt and Doyle. It's not as if we've got a cup run for him to start the game!

How I hope Lita stays and finally rams your obsessive criticisms back down your throat!

If that involves him scoring enough goals to justify being called a striker, as opposed to running neck and with our reserve 'keeper whilst demanding to be sent out on loan because his manager prefers to pick those who find the back of the net on a regular basis, I will be delighted.

Maybe not, but it adds extra pressure on them to keep performing.

Don't you think that says a lot about him that he isn't happy to just sit around and take the money and that he'd actually prefer to go out and play. The very thing you criticised Sidwell for.

Lita hasn't had a run of games in the side he'd get 3 tops, at the start of the season when the entire side including Doyle wasn't functioning still. He's gone away on loan twice in this league and scored regularly. In his one other season in this league he was welll on the way to around 15 goals before he broke his leg, again he wasn't always starting.

'running neck with our keeper' well if you want but that doesn't prove anything because he hasn't played. Lita now has 1 goal in 3(1) apps this season (8 in 19(1) inc Norwich) which is about his ratio at Reading, 1 in 3 which isn't bad for anyone, especially for one whose had a very more stop than start year previously.

It says nothing of the kind. Lita has been paid his full contractual entitlement during the whole of his loan periods. Therefore, he isn't choosing playing over cash, he's choosing playing over not playing. A world of difference, methinks.

Fair point, but even again there it shows his ambition to go out and play instead of sit around and do sod all. I'd sooner have that attitude than him being sat around and happy that he's not playing.

The importance of Lita showing potential purchasers that he has the right attitude when not automatic choice cannot be overstated.

Do you think Lita is the only player on our books who would have prefered to have played first team football anywhere in the football league last Saturday than turn out for the stiffs in a midweek fixture at Lancing, Sussex :|

Most players want to be in the first team (and Steve Coppell quite rightly doesn't want those who don't) but some get their heads down when they're not involved and others sulk and become disruptive.

At least Lita has admitted to his poor attitude and demanding to be sent out on loan.......................all we need now is for his fan club to take off the blinkers and stop slagging off Shane Long.

Shane Long will be slagged off until he actually does something with his Reading career. At the moment it equates to nothing more than Tyson or Henderson did in their time here

Yep Shane has been poor for much of the time but the only reason he gets the chances he does is because Lita has been even worse for us for the last 2 years.

His fan club can post Lita>Long a thousand times but until he makes that a reality on a regular basis whilst adopting the right attitude, he has fcuk all to complain about his treatment at this club.
