Woodcote Royal Yep Shane has been poor for much of the time but the only reason he gets the chances he does is because Lita has been even worse for us for the last 2 years.

His fan club can post Lita>Long a thousand times but until he makes that a reality on a regular basis whilst adopting the right attitude, he has fcuk all to complain about his treatment at this club.

Has Lita ever complained about his actual treatment? He just wanted to play and said it might be best for him to move on having spent months of the season not even as sub. He went out on loan, got a few goals, ended the season playing farily well. The whole team including him didn't fire in the first 3 games, he's gone out on loan again done well and now score don his first 15minutes back.

Agree completely with H&P about Long. Long isn't 18 anymore yet the Long of now and 2 years ago, I see little if no difference.

Skin Lita>Long

I think it reads better as....

Lita ability > Long's ability

Long's attitude > Lita's atttitude

We'd have a pretty decent player if we could combine the two. For the moment though, I think improving Lita's attitude is the more realistic way forward.

Alan Partridge Has Lita ever complained about his actual treatment?

Yes http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528, ... 27,00.html

Leroy Lita has hit out at Reading boss Steve Coppell as he considers his future at the Madejski Stadium.

The England Under 21 international is frustrated with his lack of first-team opportunities and has warned he will move on if his situation does not improve.

Coppell had questioned Lita's commitment to Reading's cause when he claimed the forward did not want to play against Tottenham in the FA Cup earlier this month as he did not want to be cup-tied for any potential suitors.

Lita is unhappy that Coppell made the revelations public and says he will not be signing a new deal at the club.

"The gaffer has come out and said I don't want to play at Spurs, which I wasn't happy with at all," Lita told the Daily Express.

"I said to him if I am going to move on he might as well play the lads that are here otherwise I will be cup-tied.

Personal
"I didn't say I didn't want to play. It was frustrating and a bit personal. I didn't like that

"I am not looking to sign a new deal. I don't know if I will be at Reading beyond this transfer window.

"If something comes along and and it is good for me to move on, I am going to.

"I just need opportunities. I am 23 years old. I don't want to sit on the bench.

"I have big ambitions. If that's not here then they shouldn't stop me moving on."

Do you then think it was fair for them to say he didn't want to play which was nonsense?

I take your point that he's had a go back but the original revelation is far worse than the retort from Lita in that specific interview IMO.

Of course, I agree too that it shouldn't have come out from RFC.

Interestingly Lita doesn't deny saying he didn't want to play, and he still may not want to sign a new deal.

If he does get us up and then sods off I won't mind. It may be time for both parties to move on.

Woah woah hang on there's no indication that'll happen. With things sorted out if we go up I suspect he may well now sign.

This had me bloody confused and rather shocked for ages seeing as neither us (nor Cardiff) have been due to play Spur at all. The article is a year old.

And thank God for that I was beginning to have a heart attack.

Just in case anyone else thought this was 14th Jan 2009 instead of 2008!

AP had suggested Lita had ben a quiet soul who had never complained, hence the article.

Still don't think all's sweetness and light do you? Do you reckon everything's sorted?

FWIW, IMHO, Lita will probably be off, he'll see out his contarct which is what we asked of him, so fair play to him. He doesn't have to go anywhere he doesn't want to, so he stays.

No not quite true, I said I don't remember Lita questioning his treatment. Not that he'd been quiet about not playing. Lita has always said that if the team is doing well he doesn't expect the manager to change it, his gripe was the team wasn't doing well last season, some players got lots of 2nd, 3rd, 4th chances and he rarely played during that period. He wanted to play that was all.

Point taken..

However, he doesn't deny saying that he didn't want to be cup-tied. That would amount to the same thing

Yeah I don't see any reason why not *at the moment*. Taking examples from a YEAR ago seem a little pointless to me. We know they've not seen eye to eye. No secret has ever been made of that. But now - just as openly as they've shared their problems - they're sharing getting on well. And I've no reason not to believe it any more than I'd have reason not to believe what has gone on in previous years. At the moment yes it is all sweetnes and light and for the time being everything *is* sorted. Past feelings are neither here nor there. Having said that though with these two love birds anything could happen couldn't it? :)

Okay, so having been out of favour and turning into a wandering Canary, Leroy Lita has come back to the MadStad. He's come on as a late substitute against Watford to a warm reception. The fans seem to like him. He's scored a well taken goal towards the end of the match. He says he's matured and turned a corner in his life. He's turned down a move to Sheffield Utd. He says he's committed to "the club he loves". Yet he's out of contract at the end of the season. So, the question is, what do you think?

He'll be involved until the end of the year, mostly as a sub. Have a good few appearances, will be expected to sign a new deal, but leaves for free to another club. But at least he'll leave on a good note, scoring a 90th minute winner against Brum on the last day to send us top and get promoted.....

Or he'll never play again and will leave on a free and join Cheltenham and partner Owusu up front.

I just watched the last twenty minutes or so of the Watford game

Apart from his two chances (the header was half as bad as people on here have made out) he was involved 11 times. On 9 of those occassions we lost the ball, some of them whilst Lita was throwing his arms about wanting a non-existant free kick

I think that sums Lita up. He's just not good enough at the things we ask of our forwards to get a regular run in this side

His attutude has been poor in the past and I for one don't buy this new leaf rubbish either. He and the club can make all the right noises they like, just like they did 12 months ago, but it's obvious he plays for himself and will - probably quite rightly - look after number 1 in whatever he does with his contract. I think that'll mean him giving off the right vibes now before going to the highest bidder in the summer

What a load of cack! where did you get your copy of the coverage from?!! Is WR publishing a specially edited version with extra scenes shot using a Leroy lookalike?!

How many phases had passed after Leroy last played the ball before we lost possession? e.g. Leroy lays the ball off perfectly to S Long (not picking on him but he just happens to be the player involved in the incident I have just watched) who mishits the attempted return pass to Leroy. That counts as Leroy's fault does it?!

I think he should get a new contract...

Not rubbish at all actually

I had the game sky plus'd and so thought I'd watch the last bit that I hadn't got round to previously

The times I counted were times when Lita was directly involved with the ball/opposing player. They count lost headers, times when the ball was played into him or the channel and he lost out to the defender. I didn't look at what we did after we kept the ball, mainly because it hardly ever happened

I think you're example was one of the two times I counted he kept the ball actually

There was one time where he lost out in a tackle to a defender on the far side of the pitch but we retained possession because the ball went out for a throw. I think I ignored that one, although I think Lita lost the ball from the resulting throw in anyway so it hardly made any difference
