Playing well and good performances should be a good indication of how likely we are to pick up wins and draws in the future. In that sense it's more important than playing badly and not getting points.

As the saying goes, 'form is tempory....' and so picking up points when your not 'in form' is very important, but only if you can then refind your form after the dodgy spell.

It does seem that bwteen us, Wolves and Birmingham we're all doing a decent job of not taking hold of the division and letting the teams below us get us in their sights.

Makes for an interesting run in!

Thaumagurist* Er, 1 defeat after an undefeated run of 9 league games is poor form? :|

Results do not necessarily equal good form. Tell me we've been playing at the top of our game for the last month and mean it. Go on, not even you can be that blinkered.

May I remind you we've won once in our last 5 games.

tell me please what sort of form are Wolves in?

Simlilarly poor to ours. I'm not aware of them having a gaping hole in their defence just crop up and they've been better than us across the season as a whole though. And they have some revenge to get.

It's not a given either way by any stretch of the imagination, but what's the problem with me thinking they'll win ffs.

They have lost the central defender who had claimed a place in an England squad whilst playing for them!

So, I believe we are now the highest scorers in the football league again, and, having fielded a defensive unit (incl the 'keeper) for most of the game with very little 1st team experience (Armstrong apart) which kept the previously joint top scorers from having a single meaningful attempt on goal, I'm confident everyone would agree that very real progress is being made at this club.

Well, it needed a little bump didn't it?

Average age of the makeshift back 5 = 23.

That really was a superb effort. We've heard countless times from Coppell how much he and the players think of Pearce in particular, maybe a bit too much was expected of him before because i didn't think he quite had enough when he played earlier this season but yesterday he was absolutely brilliant.

I don't remember any of that.

Anyway, re your previous post...

Indeed. It's all very well having 10 strikers to call on like Birmingham, but I suspect most other teams in the Championship would love to have a first choice central defensive pairing taken from our current support squad of Pearce, Cisse and Bikey.

Gordons Cumming HNA is such a laugh and ohhh sooooo predictable.

I predict a change in emphasis when we see off Wolves with their tails between their legs next Tuesday week.

Can't see us beating them. But I hope we do, I'll be there. I've seen some cracking games against Wolves as well.

Can you see it now, Ian?

Thaumagurist* I don't care how we perform as long as we're picking up the points. Remember, the quantity of points is more important than the quality of the football.

Yes and no. Especially if you go to a lot of games, end of the day you want to see good football as well. Be entertained and all that.

Said the Torquay fan, who actually sees neither.

Hey, I think we better get used to mid-table football lads unless there's a 'sea change'.

Isn't the first viewpoint on this topic absolute comedy gold?

The only point I was making is that you don't want to watch crap football every week, (not that Reading are producing that) Is there a price you put on 'success' on the pitch? An example being there is no way I'd watch either of my teams regularly if they played football the Watford under Boothroyd way, even if they were winning at it. As for another pop at Torquay, you bitter about them getting further in the cup than Reading or something? Not quite sure what your gripe is, thick and thin and all that or is it just a hop on the Ding bandwagon? :|
