Bill Oddie's Beard  You mean a week after Sheff Utd bid £1m for him?!

The club announced a figure bid? Or the papers did the talking?

Sheff fans seem to thing it was a smoke screen to ease the loss of Beattie.
Still reported as 7 figures everywhere and not denied by either club, in fact sheff may have confirmed. They are hardly likely to bid £1m without wanting to spend it. Anyone who thinks that is an idiot.

Why not bid £1M and then offer personal terms of ludicrously low wages that he'll definitely reject? That way they've satisfied their fans that they've made the bid, but there's no danger of it going through.

Alan Partridge
Hunt to Wigan/Spurs/ whoever £5million
Lita to QPR - £1.3million
Maybe someone like Convey departs as well.

Um, when Lita is free in a few months, you think there's a club out there thick enough to spend more than £400,000 on Lita?

How many goals would he score between now and May for a team 'clever' enough to not buy him until the summer ?

Contract status is irrelevant if you need a player now, a goalscorer could earn you millions if he gets you promoted or saves you from relegation. It would be a bit like someone drowning in December deciding to save money by not buying a lifejacket until the January sales....

There was an offer made, it was put to Lita he turned it down. Widely reported as 7 figures. QPR apparantly interested as well now. It isn't a 'smoke screen' if there is an actual offer.

...at which point you should refer to Dirk "Elbows" Gently's post a little way up the page.

If that had happened I think there is a good chance it would have been leaked. Almost disrespectful to the selling club nevermind the player.

Perhaps you're right.

And I can't imagine we'd have been ITK on this subject, given our strained relations with Sheff Utd in recent years.

What are you suggesting? That we'd let Sheff U make a bid and put it to Lita even though we knew they were just doing it as a gesture for their fans?

Or are you suggesting we didn't know and wouldn't hear about it because we don't have good relations with Sheff U?

I'm confused!

If either are likely then the latter more so.

However, it's all speculation anyway.

You think we'd allow a club to unsettle our player for their own PR advantage?

Or you think it more likely that Lita wouldn't meantion to the club why he's turning down the Sheff U offer?

I can't see either being likely.

I think Jay Tabb's arrival is great news for the club, and one that can only add to the strength of the squad.

If it is to signal the departure of someone, I suspect it would be either Convey or Marek. I suspect that SHunt is a totally seperate issue in the mind of Coppell/Hammond.

Because no professional club would behave in such an unbelievably stupid and unprofessional manner. Not exactly likely to endear other clubs or players to them when they make serious bids is it.

Why are you so desperate to find conspiracy theories everywhere.

We lie about being interested in players and making offers of over £3m, Sheff lie about being interested in spending £1m on Leroy.

What next? We never actually got to the Premier League it's all a mass hypnosis induced myth?

Big Foot
RG30 hopefully it will allow James Henry to go out on loan and continue his development.
Here's hoping - maybe Parky will take him ?

Possibly. My money would be on B Rodgers taking him on loan at Watford where he could also join up with one of his England chums J Cork.

Would be good for Henry to get a regular run of games to continue his development for us now that tabb has arrived. Assuming we don't lose S Hunt otherwise we will need wing cover.
