Simple really - it's now 'too high' as nobody is biting. Spurs could have, but they've gone for the headline buying deal for Palacios. Everton could have, but they're skint. Wigan now could, but it depends on the structure of the deal they got for Palacios. They could have other irons in the fire before Hunt. (Heskey is likely to leave in the summer, so they could be looking to get a striker in first.)
All in all, Hunt agreed to it, he signed it. If he doesn't like it he can go into a big girly Bellamy strop and rot in the reserves.
