cmonurz Fair enough - it wouldn't be very Coppellish to buy two players for the same position though. If that's going to be his approach then I'd sooner we bought a 'replacement' for Long.

You know how Coppell bought Lita, Long and Doyle all at the same time. And NHunt and Mooney?

Can you see where I'm going with this?

Cisse and Fae?

Different situation on the forwards, Coppell was rebuilding the side. Mooney was only ever signed as a reserve.

Tabb and Surman are both 'first-teamers', and I would personally be surprised if Coppell bought both of them.

Anyway, does it really matter?

Wolves are signing Nigel Quashie on loan for the rest of the season. The Wulfs aren't impressed..........

Middlesbrough striker Mido has declared he is "95 percent" certain he will be leaving the Riverside in January,
adding he would be "happy" to play with fellow Egyptian Amr Zaki at Wigan. (FilGoal.com 1135 GMT)

King going the other way as part of the deal with Wigan. Oh and Hull are not impressed after he threw a paddy about not being selected in their last game

Not really, I'd be inclined to agree Coppell won't get both, certainly unless we lose someone. But saying it isn't his style is just plain wrong. I can think of several other examples now of signing more than 1 player for the same position.

I don't think your argument that the forwards don;t count washes. Coppell is still rebuilding the side. There is plenty of pruning that is still left.

I for one would like to ditch Long, Gunnarsson, Convey, Lita and one of Duberry & Ivar at least from the first team squad by the end of the summer at the latest. And probably a whole bunch of the "for the future" lot that haven't gotten anywhere.

JUVE WANT KUYT FOR £28M - REPORT
Posted 22/01/09 11:43EmailPrintSave

Juventus are ready to launch a £28m bid for Dirk Kuyt, according to frankly unbelievable reports in Italy.

Il Corriere Dello Sport claims that negotiations will begin next week as Juventus seek a replacement for Pavel Nedved.

The Czech star's agent Mino Raiola has told Juve that he will not accept a pay-as-you-play deal so the Old Lady have apparently turned to Kuyt instead.

Any bid would inevitably test the relationship between Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez and the club's American owners as Kuyt is clearly one of Benitez's favourite players.

We sold or released Owusu, Morgan and Forster that summer, didn't we?

So we really had to get at least two strikers in.

My view as well. Jimmy Bullard would have to be stupid with absolutely no ambition to join Hull City.

:?:

Fulham have improved hugely under Hodgson and look more than safe this season. Hull are pretty much in freefall, and an outside bet to go down. Not to mention that Bullard could easily secure a move to an Everton or Villa, maybe even a top 4 side.

True, but only if they move for him.

He may think the Fulham don't want to keep him that badly and that Hull want him so could move there because of that.

He left Wigan a couple of years ago because he was desperate to move back to London. I can't believe he'd want to move to Hull now to play for what is probably a club in a more precarious position.

Don't know how much money they're offering him though.

You'd think he'd want to stay at Fulham over going to Hull.

LOL at Phil Brown, losing King is a big blow, going for Bullard is a bit desperate...
