Surman - Interesting thing

by Kevin Doyles Right Foot » 24 Jan 2009 23:31

I know this should go in the rumours thread, but its quite important and will gain more attention here. I've heard and seen that on the saints version of Hobnob, they are reporting Surmans gone to us as a done deal, and that he's signed for us. Please say this is true, has anyone heard anything else about this?

If it is true, it'll be up on the OS tomorrow i presume.

Atm this is just speculation, so it should be on the rumours thread-you're right!

Kevin Doyles Right Foot I've heard and seen that on the saints version of Hobnob?

Don't believe everything you read unless it's actually on the OS site
It's like Wigan fans coming onto our board, going back to theirs, and saying that SHunt is a done deal and he'll be training with them on Monday morning.

there's a rumour on wave fm that he was having a medical at reading yesterday. BUT, on the forums they think its rubbish as wave fm are unreliable.

personally i think this is just regurgitated rubbish from the summer.

Nevertheless, I wouldn't bet against it.

Seeing that Hunt's departure has been on the cards for months with him spending the weekend mulling over a move to Wigan, it's more than possible that his replacement has also been set up for months....................and it's no secret that Saints are desperate for the dosh or that we're sitting on enough to buy the player several times over.

Is the Hunt thing real? Seems odd that the bid was made days ago and he hasn't gone yet. I could understand him going to Spurs or maybe Everton, but for the sake of a few months of championship footy he could be in the premier league again with a team with an equal if not bigger fan base, playing in the same side with his brother in that league and not have to move to pie land.

Saints are all over the place financially and it seems that half of their team are out on loan at the moment to save on wages. The saints version of this is upthesaints.com and they are concerned that their team will go into administration in a matter of weeks with the points deduction pretty much wrapping up their relegation. I guess Surman's fee would/could give them a chance?

As I said on the "is he going thread" - he is holding out for a
Stephen Hunt on Goals on Sunday on 21/12/08 second tier of the Premiership
club - that, in his mind, is not Wigan hence why he hasn't already agreed to join them. Had Everton or Spurs bid the required £5M then he'd already have left us.

The only thing that will make Shunt stay at Reading is if no-one else bids for him and he decides that staying with us is a better long term prospect than going to Wigan.

It seems that Wigan are now in for Watson. Do they want Hunt as well?

As Terry Hall once said, "It's all a load of bollocks, and bollocks to it all."

Surman is a lazy b'stard.
He'll take all of the team's efforts to make him effective.
He's holding out for a big club I hear anyway. (Is that us)

Southampton's Drew Surman a father after fianceé gives birth to baby boy
2:41pm Saturday 24th January 2009

HE IS one Saint with something to celebrate – Andrew Surman has become a dad.

The 22-year-old midfielder, pictured, is a proud father after his fianceé and childhood sweetheart Laura Howard gave birth to a 7lb 1oz baby boy at Southampton’s Princess Anne Hospital in the early hours of Wednesday.

The couple named their son Alfie Ronnie James Surman.

His parents registered him at the same time as his cousin Oscar Reynolds, who was born eight days earlier to Laura’s sister Kate and her husband Lee Reynolds.

New grandmother Lin Howard, Laura and Kate’s mum, said: “It has been a nerve-racking time but we are all just so happy and so excited.”

Mother and son are both doing well and have left hospital.

Surman is suspended for Tuesday night’s match against Norwich City but will return to action against Swansea City at St Mary’s next weekend.

A club spokesman said: “We’re very pleased for Drew. He’ll be very proud when he comes back to play for us next Saturday.”

Having now seen a photo of Laura i think we should double the offer, her prescence would brighten up the West a lot.
