Parking near Madejski

by Thames » 27 Jan 2009 14:12

Where is best to park near Madejski?

As I'm normally hammered by the time I get to the ground, I rarely take the motor, however have no option today.

Where can I park that is free and where there is guarenteed spaces?

Don't mind walking from Basingstoke Road/Hartland Road kind of distance.

Hartland Road is fine-the later you are,the further you are away from Basingstoke Road.
Don't nick my usual spot though.

Greenfields Rd!!!

Still it goes half un-noticed on match days, and there's an alley straight through opposite the park on the Basingstoke Rd. 15 minute walk to the ground if you're slow and fat.

Safe parking too. The road is full of old people that have given up on violence and burglary.

Just park on the approach road before the barriers, just like the taxis do

Also, and it's where I park, there's a warehouse right opposite the Mcds. It's been empty for some 3 years now and the entrance to the site has space for 6 cars before the double yellows kick in. You'll need to park up by 13:30pm though, but again, it's been a good spot for me for a few years now and under CCTV.

I see that the parking ticket mob were out in force last night, everything on the verges up Bennet Road received a little present during the game.

you would have thought they would learn a lesson, probably Wolves fans so it does not matter really.

Were the ticketed cars parked legally?

They looked to be a bit lenient last night, some of the cars nearer to Basingstoke Road, were free of tickets. Other games, they've ticketed every car on Bennet Road and the roads leading off it (Commercial Rd, Darwin Close and Smallmead Rd). Funny how they don't seem to bother with the egg-chasers.

They've never been put up in the last 3 years of me parking there! I believe Winchester's sister came back one night to find the barriers up, but apparently there's some intercom thing next to them which you press and someone come's and lets you out.

Has anyone got trouble parking at B&Q for a game. I was in the control room after the Wolves game to see how the club deals with the mass of people, buses and cars leaving and saw a few cars coming out of the car park by B&Q but as all the shops are closed by 8 were they all visiting KFC and MacD or had they parked there for the game? I know there are signs up but has anyone had any consequences from parking there?

McD is open 24 hours so I guess they'd never have problems
