You've never won f**k all

by Slightly Hungover » 28 Jan 2009 12:45

Always makes me smile when opposition fans sing this at us given that it's a double negative so, in fact, they are implying we've won lots of things.

Despite wracking my brains, I've yet to think of a witty reply though. Can't imagine singing 'That's a double negative...' to have much of an impact. Any ideas?

I've always thought a retort to clubs like Wolves would be 'you weren't born when you were good' but never really caught on.

Yeah, I was wondering if any of their fans had actually seen them with a trophy...

The League cup in 1980 was the last time they won anything significant, meaning that you would have to be in your mid thirties to remember anything.

I thought last night

"we won at molineux" might have been appropriate

Probably the Divison 4 title trophy in more recent years.

Beating them 4-0 on aggregate works for me.

'That chant, is actually incorrect,
that chant, is actually incorrect'

To 'Stand up if you love Reading'

Sorted.

I like the idea of singing back with something about double negatives.
In fact maybe this is a way forward for Royals fans - we have been looking for something original for our chants.

That could be our thing - grammar

If you'd ever been to school you would know
If you'd ever been to school you would know
If you'd ever been to school
Ever been to school
You would know that is a double negative

Maybe not

I actually really like that bcubed! Can't imagine it catching on, but you never know.

And we do live in the Royal county, so maybe we should be well known for good grammer and speaking the Queen's English!

When Hicks went up to lift the Simod Cup, I was there, I was there

I wasn't but it was the only song I could think of

To be fair mate I did them a disservice as I wasn't aware that Wolves actually did the double in 1988....

We've got our name on the very same trophy they first won in 1958 and last won in 1959. And we'll have our name on it again this year.

Building on the idea above, how about:

If you'd ever been to school you would know
That the words that you've just sung do not go
Try again you illiterate collective
What you've sung's a double negative
If you'd ever been to school then you would know
