The 17 Bus your heads do get the english right, ish
Your head's. You're both wrong. And LOL that if someone agrees with Schards they must have their head up his @rse. Aren't people allowed to have their opinions, unless it's the same as yours?

I thought we was playing a bit dump at this point in time, still we are out of the cup so that helps.

SpaceCruiser You think the Burns era was bad? I reckon the period between 1989 and 1992 was a lot worse when things were looking bleak and mediocre. We even had that horrible tv interference shirt.

I may seem like a grumpy old git who's been around forever, but I only started going in '95.

readingbedding Isn't the first viewpoint on this topic absolute comedy gold?

Schards#2 Can't see either leaving anytime soon so supporting Reading's going to be a whole lot duller and uninspiring than in recent years

On that note, can i say that, every plastic i've spoken to has said how dump they are playing and how they can't believe the points they are accruing, surely that confirms the thread holders point?

Only if your head's several feet up his backside.

In comparison to now it was rubbish.
But back then, it was fine, we were what we were.

Spot on. We should have been paid to attend matches during that period.

However, even though things were "bleak and mediocre" at least they were better than the "dull and uninspiring" time we've had so far this season.

Ian Royal AP I'm going to refuse to answer. I know what I'd like to say, but I'm smart enough to know what you're getting at and I know I can't guarantee I'd go as much and spend as much. Although I wouldn't go elsewhere for certain.

The memory of the Burns era is too recent. Buggering off to Uni couldn't have come at a better time. Of course having to be there for 3 years did get irritating when Curo and Butler were tearing the place up.

Ahh but the Burns era was because we were just rubbish, Burns philosphy was that we should play football on the ground, problem was the players we had or signed were crap in the main.

89-92 was a few years before my time but I've heard all about Hicks style hoofball, that's a fairly good comparison, the crowds were pretty woeful during those Branfoot days. The one thing is that even in the 17 years since then football has moved on a lot more, there are far more teams right through the ladder playing better football, League 2 (Division 4) is now a place to watch half decent football whereas it was uber dirge at that time. There are few that remain playing the ancient tactic of just aimlessly hoofing it forward.

Again not questioning anyone's allegiances, I will always follow Reading, and if they appointed Boothroyd and went that way I'd still follow them and hoped they won, I just wouldn't part with my money on a regular basis to watch it!! :P

Fingers x'd that never happens. Coppell's teams while he's been here are built on wing play, sure we are more direct than some in the league (also partly down to this time of year with our pitch being crap, which doesn't help pretty football) but Coppell's teams are generally effective. Scoring goals and good competitive football is entertainment in my eyes, more often than not, especially in the least 4 years Coppell's teams here have delivered that.

Ian Royal from Cambridge I wouldn't like the quality of football, I'd want us to play and perform better. And I can't argue I'd go every game for obvious reasons. But I wouldn't go any less than now and it would still be Reading I support, because it is Reading I care about. Not football.

Wonderful

Ian Royal from Reading, living in Cambridge these days.

Why is that a problem Mr Tredds? I couldn't give a monkey's about football before I discovered the joys of Reading FC. Take them away and I wouldn't have more than an armchair interest in MOTD. Doesn't make me less of a fan, just one with a fairly narrow interest.

I still want to see football run well and with integrity. And played well with a decent passing and attacking style, without cheating.

A little bit of cheating is ok, as long as it is us doing it.

Same with gamesmanship.

I very much enjoyed an injured Noel Hunt last night making his way to the far side of the pitch when he saw he was about to be subbed enabling him to take nearly a minute to walk off.

Doesn't have to admit it, read it and make your own mind up.
It was wrong as soon as the submit option was pressed.

This is my favourite crystal ball comment for this week.

The golden team has long gone and we have to move on and build a new team. Coppell doesn't, IMHO, have the hunger to do this.

Vision
Royal Rother So, I believe we are now the highest scorers in the football league again, and, having fielded a defensive unit (incl the 'keeper) for most of the game with very little 1st team experience (Armstrong apart) which kept the previously joint top scorers from having a single meaningful attempt on goal, I'm confident everyone would agree that very real progress is being made at this club.

Well, it needed a little bump didn't it?

Average age of the makeshift back 5 = 23.

Average age of Wolves back 5 =..............yes,you've got it,23.

Pretty ineffective sideways passing in the middle of the pitch is just as bad as random hoof ball IMO.

I think it's time for schards to retract some of the points in the original post as they have quite clearly been proven to be inaccurate

I don't know why he doesn't do this-does he think there's a queue of about 50 bitter net warriors waiting to spurt onto the screen as he saus "ok ok i was wrong"?
