Ian Royal AP I'm going to refuse to answer. I know what I'd like to say, but I'm smart enough to know what you're getting at and I know I can't guarantee I'd go as much and spend as much. Although I wouldn't go elsewhere for certain.
The memory of the Burns era is too recent. Buggering off to Uni couldn't have come at a better time. Of course having to be there for 3 years did get irritating when Curo and Butler were tearing the place up.
Ahh but the Burns era was because we were just rubbish, Burns philosphy was that we should play football on the ground, problem was the players we had or signed were crap in the main.
89-92 was a few years before my time but I've heard all about Hicks style hoofball, that's a fairly good comparison, the crowds were pretty woeful during those Branfoot days. The one thing is that even in the 17 years since then football has moved on a lot more, there are far more teams right through the ladder playing better football, League 2 (Division 4) is now a place to watch half decent football whereas it was uber dirge at that time. There are few that remain playing the ancient tactic of just aimlessly hoofing it forward.
Again not questioning anyone's allegiances, I will always follow Reading, and if they appointed Boothroyd and went that way I'd still follow them and hoped they won, I just wouldn't part with my money on a regular basis to watch it!!
Fingers x'd that never happens. Coppell's teams while he's been here are built on wing play, sure we are more direct than some in the league (also partly down to this time of year with our pitch being crap, which doesn't help pretty football) but Coppell's teams are generally effective. Scoring goals and good competitive football is entertainment in my eyes, more often than not, especially in the least 4 years Coppell's teams here have delivered that.
