SpaceCruiser Eh? If you're including Doyle, then you'd better include Long, Lita and Gunnarsson who came around the same time as Doyle and S. Hunt!!!

You've missed out Hahnemann, Murty and Convey.

I did say first teamers. If you took our starting xi over the last 10 games, apart from the players I named the majority of them have been signed in the last few years.

Merely an observation that SC recruitment's policy has been quietly effective building a new first team.

I think the obvious choice will be Duberry, experienced, strong character all the hallmarks that the job needs, if he doesn't play tomorrow and Harper is absent then I would expect either Armstrong of Hunt S to get the armband.

It's difficult to know without knowing the characters of some of the new lads.

If Duberry and Harper are both missing then it might still go to Hunt as it would do usually. Personally I wouldn't give it to him but it's the sort of thing Coppell does and so it wouldn't surprise me to see him lead out the team.

If Pearce is playing then, as AP suggested, I'd see nothing wrong in giving him a go as it's likely to just be a one off. He'd become the clubs youngest ever captain too.

Outside of those obvious candidates I'd just give it to Doyle as a thank you for all his hard work. If there are natural captains out on the pitch then they'll still lead with or without the armband so it doesn't make much difference.

Harper - he's not leaving and I think he plays better when he has the [leg]band. BTW I don't remember seeing it on his leg last time he was captain. Has he been told it brings the honour into disrepute or something?

You said it at the start of 07-08? When we were in the top flight at Pearce was on loan to Bournemouth?

I agree that he should be our next club captain after Murty retires.
