papereyes Would just want a good game - thinking the Lass O'Gowrie or the Friendship might be a good bet

Yeah or the Varsity in the centre as I was saying on another thread. I have other plans tonight unfortunately but enjoy the game.

I can't believe the game starts so late. 9 pm our time which means it's 10 pm in Spain! That would never happen here.

Barcelona were ordered by a court yesterday to pay €57.2M to Sogecable (pay per view TV chanel) as compensation for breaching conditions on a contract they have had for the past 5 years.

Laporta claims he will get half this money from TV3 (local TV company) so it won't have a major impact on the clubs liquid capital

After a week of being accused of embezzlement Ramon Calderon finally resigns, Vicente Boluda takes over temporarily.

Elections will most likely take place at the end of the season

Eugenio Martinez Bravo is the only person so far who has announced his candidacy. Florentino Perez is rumoured to be going for it along with a host of others.

Towards the end of the seaon we can expect a whole host of election promises based around which players will be bought. Karim Benzema is the man Real Madrid fans want most, my guess is that the one that announces the loudest that they will sign him will get it.

Italian newspapers claim that Inter Milan were investigated in the summer by the Public Prosecutors Office over match fixing for the 07/08 season.

Il Giornale claims that Inter threw away matches to favour betting odds and that Ibrahimovic's return from injury was postponed by purpose to weaken the team.

Il Giornale is owned by Berlusconni mind

Dave from open play v. the ten men of Bologna last weekend.

Don't blink --it's a five-second clip of a sequenceo of play that looked much more impressive live, in full and on a proper screen.

Spanish 3rd division side Granada CF, who haven't been paid for 4 months, protest for the first 25 seconds of their game Melilla with a sit down type thingy and the front of their shirts all say 'we want to be paid'

Javier Aguirre sacked as coach of Athletico Madrid. Seems strange with the Champions League only just weeks away. They've always had an exceptional first X11 but the depth of the squad remains to be questioned.

LOL @ everyone in the Spanish top flight not associated with FC Barcelona.

Sixteen games left, and if they should fashion no better a finish than nine wins and a draw from that, then by my rough counting they'll finish in the top two anyway.

I may have noted previously that this is the first season that I've been able to enjoy a nice schmear of Spanish games every weekend, live in full and with commentary in English. In fact, I looked on as Barca lost and then drew their first two league matches of the campaign, since when they've dropped a total of two points.

It's been something to watch them thoroughly outclass anyone with title pretensions, while waltzing their way past lesser opposition than that, ever since. With such a cushion under them on the domestic front and attention soon to turn to the knockout stage of the Champions League, any outcome for them short of hoisting the jug in Rome would have to rate a major disappointment.

Milan fail to increase their £5M offer for David Beckham so the boy returns to the Mickey Mouse league.

Surely Beckham himself has enough money to add some to that transfer if he wanted it badly enough?

Possibly, although it would presumably curtail his $250m pa tie-ins with MLS.

Ajax v Feyenoord this weekend, rarely has it had such little bearing on the Eredivisie title.

Feijenoord (that's better) have won once away this season, I don't expect that to change.

Valencia are now over a month without being paid. The owners promise to pay up by yesterday has apparently not happened.
