In one of the papers it said that Steve Death used to smoke a cigarette during the record breaking games as he was so confident of the team in front of him.

Anyone remember that fact?

I don't.

I used to stand right behind the Tilehurst End goal in the 1970's and never saw Death light up during a game. Used to see him having a ciggie in Prospect Park after training though - think they all smoked in those days though.....

There was a photo that I've seen of him with his little keeper's bag under his arm and cigarette already in place seconds after the final whistle.

Terminal Boardom To lose a record to a team chasing major honours is no disgrace. I am just relieved that we didn't lost it ot the likes of Hereford or Darlington - if you get my drift.

Not at all - it's a tremendous achievement whoever breaks it, why be a snob?

Exactly, remember we were in Division 4 when we broke the record. Getting promoted as Champions I grant you but is that what is being classed as "major honours"?

Last saw Steve Death play in Chalky White's testimonial, and what memories it brought back .

He was a great shot stopper, but had the worst kick i have ever seen from a keeper.Could only reach the half way line wind assisted. He played in a time when Reading did not play out from the back. Not a lot changed then!

After their draw in midweek Leicester have 70 points from 32 games and can achieve a maximum of 112 points, so 3 draws is all they can afford now. After 32 games we had 79 points.
