SLAMMED Just to reitterate...
SLAMMED Im not surprised one bit. In fact, i predicted it...

SLAMMED 20/12/08: When the january transfer window closes, we will still have Doyle, Hunt and Nunt.

Watch this space.

Ill be reffering to this post at the end of the window to show all the doubters how stupid and narrow minded they are.

The window is out of the way.
Now the players know they won't be pushed out by newcomers, they can focus and get into some kind of form.
Especially with the versatile Tabb and left-sided Harding coming in, nobody is safe anymore.

GK: Federici/Hahnemann

RB: Kelly/Rosenior/Murty
CB: Bikey/Ingi/Duberry/Pearce/Sodje
LB: Armstrong/Harding

RM: Kebe/Henry/Tabb
CM: Harper/Cisse/Matejovsky/Gunnarsson/Karacan/Tabb
LM: S Hunt/Convey/Harding/Tabb

ST: Doyle/Nunt/Lita/Long

Plenty of depth in the squad, I think.

LOL. That would only be true if SSC wasn't manager.

To be honest with you centre half worries me. An injury to Doobs and I think we're looking a bit short there. Bikey/Pearce is a risky combo at the moment, esp as Coppell doesn't seem to have much faith in Bikey. Hopefully an experienced Prem centre back could come in on loan, you'd think teams would be keen to keep hold of their players....

Pearce/Bikey would be risky but its a pairing I would like to see. Both strong in the air and Bikey's pace would cover Pearce's lack of it. I must admit Pearce's inexperience and Bikey's mystifying punch drunk performances on occasions would be a worry but as things currently stand they are the long term centre backs....and I would like to see how they get on.

I think Pearce is moving beyond the 'inexperienced' category now.

He's played near enough 50 first team games.

What number does he need to lose the rookie tag ?

Yes he has played a decent number of game at this level but has not established himself as a first team regular although your point is noted as he probably hasn't played many less games in English football than Bikey. He is still young and surely stil learning his trade so I would still consider him, perhaps, relatively inexperienced.

Sure but how many of those were in the lower leagues...the majority I suspect. He is still pretty inexperienced at Championship level.

Agreed, he has a way to go, but he's a smart guy, has a very good football brain and is in many ways a mature player.

I think if he keeps his place for the rest of the season he'll keep it for a long time

RG30 It wouldn't be HNA? without the usual posters giving it all negativity time and time again. We've supplemented the squad and look set for a great end of season battle for Premiership football. With players to come back, we go into the final 3rd in good shape. Only dissapointment is maybe some of the younger players like Henry or Karacan didn't get out on-loan to get them the games now we're just fighting on the league front.

We can still loan players out (or even in) on 30-90 day loans.

chilipepper91 He'll be off in January anyway.

TBM When we sell Doyle in January we will probably shove him behind N.Hunt playing a 4-4-1-1 formation

mini _dariusz LOL @ those thinking Doyle was committing signing a contract. He's offski you mugs and in the mean time he's fleecing more money out of you.

Barry the bird boggler Come January Doyle, Harper and probably Hunt will be gone...

S09Royal i guess we will be saying bye to both doyle and Shunt in January

Not really. It's simple. The club have put effective get out clauses on Doyle and hunt (I don't know about Harper) and no other club valued these players at these prices. I'm sure if Wigan had come in with 5m for hunt and Tottenham had come in with 8m for Doyle they would have both gone had the wage demands of both players been met.

I for one thought we would probably lose Hunty but after Doyle signed his new contract thought he would stay. But hindsite is a wondeful thing and I applaud anyone brave enough in the current climate to nail their colours to the mast.

Great News SHunt Stays

by SWLR » 03 Feb 2009 11:01

Great for the team - brings energy, skill and crosses at pace
Great for the fans - I will give him a standing ovation when he saunters over to the NE to take a corner. He riles the opposition fans and stirs an atmosphere where ever he goes.
Great for HNA - Love him or loathe him, he's great to talk about.
