If the bank called in the over draft of any business it would be a problem.

And I suspect in the league table of overdrafts we're nowhere near Premier League.

Football as a whole could get really badly hit although somehow the TV rights keeping bringing in big money.

Who does the club bank with?

I suspect the money is spread around a bit, but a bank would have to hit the wall for them to call in the debt.

The club makes a profit so is in a perfect situation to ride out the storm. If I was a Wolves or Birmingham fan I would be far more worried.

Does make you wonder where all the money has gone again if the situation is that precarious?

We bought in £11m plus from transfer dealings plus we got some big earners off the wage bill and spent £1.5mish?

Crowds have stayed relatively high throughout the season

We've topped up Shunts earnings - hardly deserved I say

Maybe its because we're not all buying the 6 pints of crap lager in plastic glasses before kick off each game - thats nothing to do with the economy!

Not sure its a good idea Sir giving the "we're nearly broke" speech when he's trying to sell the club

He's hardly selling the club by emphasizing how worried he is about the overdraft being called in, is he?

I think that's the point being made.

Anyway it's a non-story.

Football Club has overdraft shocker.

No shit, Sherlock?

No real news with this article other than Sir John stating the obvious that the economic downturn could have an impact on football club finances in general!!

RFC are a lot better off than many other clubs at this moment in time due to the prudent financial efforts.

Just look at Norwich, Charlton and Southampton who are ex premier clubs really struggling to het money in to maintain their Championship status!

Quite how we managed to get into such debt is a mystery.

Not really news though, surely any club who has its overdraft recalled is in the s**t.

Seeing as Madejski is worth either £400m or £800m (I forget which), we wouldn't be in deep trouble. What's the difference between £400m and £370m (other than the obvious £30m)? I'm sure he wouldn't be tight-fisted enough not to pay it off.

Madejski means the club itself, not anything to do with him. I cannot see with all the investment, he would ever see this club goes under, even if he still owns it or not
