In the Brayson era, I well remember the loudest noise from the East Stand being the boos and the "you're not fit to wear the shirts" chants. To suggest otherwise, that this was some golden era of hardcore support is nostalgic garbage.

Having said that, I don't agree with the boos today, I boo when I feel the team aren't trying, this lot are trying their hearts out, they just aren't particularly good sadly. But they are all we've got so if they give 100% we should still get behind them.

[quote="BallRoyal"]You're having a real laugh mate, when Reading were outplaying, which bloody game you go to.
I drove all the way from Bristol among the Shitheads, took loads of abuse from them, and saw one of the worst displays of football for ages. Then I get some crap off a tit like you .
I've been a Reading fan for 40yrs my son, I pay my money, Isat in the East Stand, and I booed,
What the f are you going to do about it. PRRRRRICK.[/qu]

You say you've sat there for 40 years paying your money, but you speak like a 15 year old.

Anyway, on to the original point, I've met several people since I've been at uni who have come to the Mad Stad for one game or another and have said that we have the worst support going. I don't agree with making the North Stand the chant stand, as a former North Stand resident, in some games I just felt too far from the opposition to get any good banter going

Were all the boos aimed at the team? As the teams went off at half-time I was pretty sure the boos were directed at the absolutely shyte ref and his even more incompetent assistant on the East Stand side. During the first half they showed an absolute incredible ability to see goalkicks where everyone else clearly saw the ball last come off a defender. Add to that at least one very strong claim for a penalty that was completely ignored and an incredibly blatant upstretched arm and handball as Kebe crossed (right in from of the blind assistant!).

I agree that the ref was garbage, but if you think the full time boos were aimed soley at him, I think you're deluding yourself.

2 world wars, 1 world cup WE DO NOT DESERVE TO BE ANYWHERE NEAR THE TOP OF THE TABLE WITH THE SUPPORT WE HAVE

I thought football was about 11 men doing their thing.

My mistake.

Nearly every other ground has it's home singing end opposite the away end and they don't seem to have a problem generating noise. True, the South Bank was an exception but I think having a roof over our heads was a determining factor there.

Like you, I've sat in the North Stand, but I've found that the best chants/songs there, were generated by ourselves and not determined by what the opposition did or said.

To be fair when the drummrs do try to get involved someone eles will come on here and slag them off anyway. Our support and the noice we generate is generally poor compared to alot of other teams that are in worse positions than us we really need to sort it out and gear up the team, though i'll admit i dont see how it will happen when we seem to rely on the teams performance to get us singing.....

When are you all going to realise we aint a big club. Our support has never been up to much. For years the Welsh, both Bristol clubs, Stoke etc have come down and shown what a good away support is. I would love to be in an away support like it but gave up ever thinking it would happen. We are a family club with about 7000 hardcore - the same 7000 who were left at the final whistle against Watford in the last home game of the clubs greatest ever season. You remember the one we lost 2-0 and rather everyone stay and applaud the team for there efforts for the whole season most p*ssed off early cos we missed out on Europe. I was never more embarrassed to be a Reading fan than I was that day. Wake up Reading fans our support is shit ! x

Yep, good to see that a complete absence of any braincells doesn't stop someone supporting the Royals! Surprised he could find the way here all the way from Bristol! :)

One of my favourite traits of Reading fans is the "I'm a better fan that you" oneupmanship that accompanies our travails.

It's so childish and should be so beneath even the youngest of fan.

And yet ...
