Yellow Cards.....

by Wycombe Royal » 24 Feb 2009 09:02

I believe after this weekend those players on under 5 yellows get them wiped out thus avoiding a ban. The players on 4 yellows are who need to avoid one this weekend are:

Chris Armstrong - we have Dan Harding in the squad, so it would be a loss but not a major one
Kevin Doyle - he won't get a yellow because he on;ly gets them for celebrating goals.....
Stephen Hunt - who cares, it will be nice for Coppell to be forced to replace him
Leroy Lita - probably will be dropped this weekend so may not get many minutes on the pitch
Jay Tabb - doesn't play.

So it's not too bad.

Agreed on Armstrong, we could really do without him missing any games. The others I could live with to be honest.

Armstrong showed his potential as early as Burnley away. He has one attempt on goal in that game IIRC. I rate him.

On a related point, who do we actually want dropped on Saturday? I've a strong feeling Coppell won't drop Harper, Hunt or Lita. Harper and Hunt for loyalty reasons and because they're "senior pros", Harper also because he's captain and Lita because Coppell will struggle to justify it to him on the basis of recent effort. Regarding lack of goals, Lita will simply say that he hasn't been given chances to score (which isn't true on Saturday - trouble is he keeps on shooting (tamely) at the keeper).

A player who clearly wanted and tried to play proper passing football - short, quick passing and good movement off the ball. If only we had a few more!

Good to know that we've got a squad, to cover for possible suspensions/injuries.
But i would agree on the majority opinion that it would be Armstrong that would be most missed.
Player of the season....so far.
