Well if West Ham are willing to pay £7.5m+ for a 19 year old who has scored 3 goals in 17 appearances for a Serie B side then Doyle must be worth 10 figures. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/footbal ... 851056.stm

How can West Ham risk so much money on someone like him considering their financial situation?!? Astounding.

Zola's manager there, I guess he has good knowledge of this player. More atounding is there ever being a rumour of Carlton Cole going to Juventus.

Villa scout again at a Reading game to watch Doyler.

O'Neil does seem keen on our Kev. I wonder even if we do go up if we can keep him here.

Rather rare for a scout to say who he was there to watch. Could well be Armstrong at left back.

Dellor seems to know this particular scout rather well. I'm sure though he was looking at the magnificence of Jimmy Kebe.

Damn if Villa are unsettling Kebe we are in real trouble.

Ahhhh Dellor, how nice would it be if he told us what was happening on the field, and tried to stay calm for a change.

Can't they go and bother someone else? I'm sure there are players out there who can score goals.

Now that would be funny! We don't want to lose Stretch, but if we do we don't want a swap with Villa's pedestrian reserve left-back!

Nicky hammond said on a radio interview (i think it was 107). That if we dont go up Doyle will be gone. end of. so im guessing hes got some clause in his contract allowing him to leave for a nominal fee if we dont get promoted or leave on a free.

As if we'd get him to sign a contract that said he could leave for a nominal fee or free??????????????? There is no way that would happen but the reality might be that if we don't get promoted Kevin will be off as there would be big clubs after him and they wouldn't want to keep an unhappy player in the team.

either way, he said hed be gone if we dont go up. i was only speculating as to the terms of him leaving but i think you mite be rite as to a transfer. ANYWAY, lets be more optimistic here, we're still in with a shout of going up automatically and theres still 13 games to go!!!!

Perhaps that's why he's gone off the boil, he doesn't want us to go up, because he wants to go and earn big bucks at a much bigger club. What incentive is there for Doyle to want to help us get up if he has that clause in his contract? If we didn't go up, but someone from the Prem came in for him at the end of the season, I doubt we'd have refused them the chance to talk to him. And what was the point of getting him to sign a longer contract with us - as promotion is by no means guaranteed.

That's a bit insulting to a bloke who, out of all the players we have had in our ranks over the last 3 decades, is one of those least deserving of having their commitment and integrity questioned.

Missed off the rolled eyes after that sentence. It was tongue in cheek. The rest of it I meant though!

In Doyle's case nominal will involve 7 digits and will probably start with at least a 4, probably a 5 or 6.

Which if we don't go up is fair enough really. I imagine it's similar for SHunt, but a lower release clause. Maybe as low as £2 - 3m

Doyle is the best player outside of the Premiership.
I'm under no illusion that he'll leave us one day.
