Very pleased as long as he plays.
Lita and Long haven't stepped up to the plate and N Hunt seems to have faded so the return of our Dave is most welcome.
It worked when Trevor Senior came back and I'm sure (especially at this level) it will work with Kitson.

readingbedding Absurd and ridiculous reading it must be said.
We were always going up anyway, but now with the old boys back we can do so with some style.
Well done Steve Coppell.

So my suggestion that the return of two players who have hardly played in months and proved abject failures at their current clubs might, just might, be a touch desperate is 'absurd and ridiculous' but your assertion that we were always going up anyway isn't?

I believe the technical term is
LOL

Anti-Kitson Protest

by Thames » 10 Mar 2009 14:07

Whilst football is a VERY fickle game, even I am shocked that people are happy we've re-signed Dave Kitson.

Kitson walked out on this club when the lure of big bucks and the Premier league came calling. I even overheard him in one of Reading's late night venues boasting about his move and criticising the way Reading FC was run.

They won't give me the money a star like me deserves

That was one outburst that made my blood boil.

So, I'd like to hear from you, the fans of Reading FC, why exactly are you happy with the re-signing of a this ginger haired traitor??

I will be doing my very best to force him out of the club once and for all - starting tonight.

Person leaving a company to get paid more elsewhere shocker.

You would have done the same unless you are unambitious.

Is Kevin Doyle unambitious? His attitude to the same situation was 'I was a part of the team that go relegated, so I'll be a part of the team that brings us back up', which is very gracious and is testimony to Doyle as both a person and a sportsman.

However, the game is known for having little characters of Doyle's qualities. I am not surprised by Kitson's apparent attitude, and to a certain degree it's a good attribute for a sportsman to want to play at the best level he can. I don't agree with him if he criticised the running of the club, but doing so in an 'overheard' private conversation is a hundred times better than doing so in the media, which he hasn't done.

Kitson's attitude in the press (as far as I remember) has been good towards Reading FC. He spoke of how he wanted to remain here for the rest of his career had we maintained a level of competition he associated with himself, and he spoke of his dissapointment at how a once great team eventually broke-up.

Taking the above into consideration, I'd probably say that Kitson's return can be of benefit to this club if all involved want it to be. Hopefully Kits has woken up since his move up north, and now thinks he has unfinished business here much like Doyle does. However, if Kitson starts giving it the big bananas in the dressing room then that might not be the case.

As far as I'm aware, his main problem was with Shorey's attitude, who we all know performed pretty badly and looked disinterested in our second season.

You must be on a wind-up. Otherwise I hope one of the buses runs you over during your 'protest'.

This is not a windup. Trust me if it was, it would have been a fair few paragraphs longer.

I'd say 90% of this board slated Kitson in similar fashion to me a few months ago, but now "ooh lets be friends".

No, the standard is extremely poor.

We sold him, he didn't 'walk out'.
