in an interview with Pullis on the bbc website, the reporter mentions Kitson having had a baby, and Pullis response was "yeah he has had family problems" anyone know what this is?

His wife had post-natal depression and didn't like living miles away from friends/family/posh shops/decent restaurants.

If I were Kitson I'd have been disappointed if the club weren't willing to pay me what another club was willing to. He was a star performer over his years with the club, none more so than in the relegation season when he finished top scorer.

Depending on the clubs and the money involved, my knowledge of what my under performing teammates were on, and the timing of the offers, yes.

Still don't quite see why it would be such a shock that you get lower wages in the Championship than you do in the Prem. I suspect neither of us know what Kitson was paid by Stoke but I suspect it was more than any of our players were on at the start of this season.

Is Kevin Doyle unambitious? His attitude to the same situation was 'I was a part of the team that go relegated, so I'll be a part of the team that brings us back up', which is very gracious and is testimony to Doyle as both a person and a sportsman.

However, the game is known for having little characters of Doyle's qualities. I am not surprised by Kitson's apparent attitude, and to a certain degree it's a good attribute for a sportsman to want to play at the best level he can. I don't agree with him if he criticised the running of the club, but doing so in an 'overheard' private conversation is a hundred times better than doing so in the media, which he hasn't done.

Kitson's attitude in the press (as far as I remember) has been good towards Reading FC. He spoke of how he wanted to remain here for the rest of his career had we maintained a level of competition he associated with himself, and he spoke of his dissapointment at how a once great team eventually broke-up.

Taking the above into consideration, I'd probably say that Kitson's return can be of benefit to this club if all involved want it to be. Hopefully Kits has woken up since his move up north, and now thinks he has unfinished business here much like Doyle does. However, if Kitson starts giving it the big bananas in the dressing room then that might not be the case.

As far as I'm aware, his main problem was with Shorey's attitude, who we all know performed pretty badly and looked disinterested in our second season.

Great new IMO, Kitson and Little`s return could just be the lift the club needs to take us to promotion, any help at this stage of the season is warmly welcomed, especially as Wolves and Brum seem to have rediscovered their form. Both Kits and Little know the club inside out and also each others game. I just hope both are match fit and able to slot back into the squad and side starting with Little tonight and hopefully both against Ipswich on Saturday. I wonder if their return would add a couple of thousand or so to Saturdays attendance?

It's a quote directly from Doyle himself. Kitson didn't make the same noises prior to Stoke's offer, did he?!

Players say a lot and unless we accepted an offer and he had the contract infront of him and turned it down then we'll never know will we?

Don't forgot Doyle also made noises about wanting to be back in the Premiership too. He's a sensible enough lad to be media savvy enough not to burn his bridges at RFC and know when he's on to a winner too.

personally very much with regards to Kitson. If we get the Kitson of 2 - 3 years ago then superb, if we get the Kitson of towards the end of last season then it's a huge mistake, not only that but by all accounts agreeing to make it permanent is a peculiar one. Unless I've missed the genius tactic of signing up players who were part of a previous relegation season to then keep you up the next time

Kitson is 29, injury prone and proven that when things don't go his way he'll kick off about it. He was superb for Reading previously and may be again, but I must say I would rather our manager had looked forward to something new than rather just look right back to where we started from. I don't see the signing of Kitson (permanently) as a progressive step for the club to take personally. If it was just a loan until the end of the seaosn like Little then I would be more in favour.

Coppell's major flaw is being that too much loyal to his current players, he know seems to be happy with being overly loyal to players who seriously let himself and the club down towards the end of last season.

Totally agree, but that was the official figure and some of us aren't thick enough to pretend we know exactly how much the club has received to date ......................I just know you are about to enlighten us all.
