Doncaster on St Patrick's Day

by STAR_Northern_Royals » 12 Mar 2009 13:41

For anyone who hadn't realised it, next Tuesday's match at Doncaster is being played on St Patrick's Day and STAR Northern Royals will be attending in force - well about 30 of us anyway.

Given the strong Irish contingent in the team, it seemed too good an opportunity to miss and we would like all Royals fans to show their appreciation of the Irish players contribution by turning it into a Royals St Patrick's Day party night.

So if you can, please turn up in your green, white or orange (not too difficult with our latest away kit and "ginger" history) and play your part. Green, white and orange balloons can't be difficult to find and anything else with a (tasteful??) Irish slant would be welcome.

I'm sure we all believe we'd be a poorer team without the Irish lads, so let's try and give them and the rest of the squad a boost for the season's run-in, starting at Tuesday night's game.

Have a great St Patrick's Day - and night!!

In addition this is thought to be SC's 1000th game as a manager, so there really should be something memorable to make it stand out...

This sounds like a good idea to me. Though i won't be doing a single thing to add to it, i hope it works out.

How about adding something else to the Irish theme............

..............black armbands in memory of the 2 soldiers and the policeman murdered by the IRA last week?

Just a thought.

And an inordinately childish one at that.

I really don't see what St Patricks Day has to do with Reading FC? They don't do anything special for St Georges Day, so why the hell should they do anything for St Patricks day?

Unbelievable!

Pretty rubbish idea all round I'd say. We didn't celebrate American Independence Day on July 4 by having a tea party down at the club car park for a start.

You've got to be oxf*rd.

Yeh let's politicise football more than it already is - great idea. Lets go the way of football in Glasgow. A bit of sectarianism never hurt anyone right?

So what do we do for St. George's Day? Be embarrassed for being ENGLISH??? Leave St P's Day for the Irish.

What a load of DUMP. Any Englishman should be ashamed to even consider anything to do with being Irish, even for a day.

Why should they be ashamed? Keep politics out of football. St Patricks day is only a bit of fun, jesus.

It's fantastic marketing from Guiness. Not sure about anything else.
