Dirk Gently There's no case to be made for subsidising/rewarding "regular" travellers for all the reasons stated.
But there is a case to be made for subsidising/sponsoring transport to ensure that the support at what will probably be a very important away match is as large as possible, considering the circumstances.
It would make more sense to subsidise / sponsor the match tickets.
That way you include everyone.
By only addressing the transport you exclude all those who might want to go but
- aren't STAR members
- plan to travel with others who aren't STAR members
- don't live in Reading
- only want to make the trip one way
- don't want to travel by coach
- can't make the coach departure time
- want to leave earlier than the coach and make a day of it
So how about the match tickets are all subsidised by a tenner and people make their own transport arrangements to suit themselves ?
