The Phantom Goal to Haunt the Royals?

by runrunrunrungilksey » 21 Mar 2009 00:00

The goal that never was - you remember Watford away 2-2. I was speaking to a Brum fan today who was saying, should RFC pip the Blues to 2nd on goal difference, then they would try and force a legal issue to try and get the Watford V Reading game replayed.

With Coppell already offering to replay the game after it happened, would they have a case? Even so Brendan Rodgers would prob refuse to play seeing as he is a Reading fan! :?:

I'm surprised a Birmingham fan could spell 'legal issue'.

Or understand the further ramifications of replaying such a game. :!:
Does that mean all complaints upheld are scrutinised and further games replayed - bollox idea.

Score more on GD Brum and there would be no worry.

Utter nonsense. If they entertained this then every single bad decission that resulted in a goal ( free kick given when it clearly wasn't one etc) would be up in the dock .

I blame Colin. He's got everyone believing you can take football clubs to court if you basically aren't good enough to get into/stay in the Premier League.

And if we replayed it, we'd only end up winning anyway and then Birmingham will be left with the play-offs. But as Watford are perously close to the relegation zone (5 points off), if there was a chance they could be relegated by the loss of a point, don't think they'd go for it... Although you could argue that if that was the case then there could be 2 teams screaming for a replay; Brum and whoever could be saved by them going down.

LOL at the whole idea !

As if there is any 'legal' issue here...

And as if the 'issue' is in the slightest bit unique...

Are Hull sueing over the Gallas goal I wonder ?

Non debate.

If there was going to be a case, surely it would of had to of been brought up at the time. Anyway, even if we hadnt of got that goal, it could of been a totally different game, which we could have taken 3 points from.

We could just say that decisions even themselves out over the season. Anyway, there could be no case, as we did nothing wrong, it was a refereing mistake

To be fair, the deficit was more that made up for during that match from the referee anyway. His second half performance was at times comically in favour of Watford. All even, back to the game today.
