Royalee I think you'll find that when we played our best football in that Championship winning season, Hunt wasn't in the team.

Maybe it's you who has the short memory?

Which games did he miss, and what were the results?

Here you go:

Watford (a) 0-0
Burnley (h) 2-1
Coventry (a) 1-1
Norwich (a) 1-0
Hull (a) 1-1
Palace (a) 1-1
Norwich (h) 4-0
Sheff Utd (a) 1-1

So Hunt missed 8 games in 05/06, and we won 3 and drew 5 of them, the only emphatic result being the 4-0 win over Norwich in January.

So how did we 'play our best football' when Hunt wasn't in the side?

Is your memory poor Royalee, or are you just making throw away remarks with no basis in fact?

Exactly how many games did he start? He was brought on several times, usually when we were in the lead and coasting.

Shane long, 1 good thing and one bad in no particular order.

Sometimes he'll have a crap touch, give the ball away then tackle and concede the throw.

yesterday he did some brilliant holdup playn ran out wide... then lost the ball like a sunday league player.

Have to admit my memory failed me, and I thought Hunt had started about half of those games. Nevertheless, that's twice this week that someone has posted 'we are/were better off without Kebe/Hunt' when their contributions have been to a current 3rd place, and a record points total, respectively. Feels sometimes like posters are searching for historic evidence to back up their opinions, which isn't required.

'greed.
Earlier on in the game we had a corner, Doyle flicked it and the ball went over the bar. Someone around me said earlier in the season NHunt comfortably put those away. BRING BACK NHUNT, COPPELL!

howser There is a lot of individual players getting critisised around yesterdays result and perfromance, but at the end of the day it was a very very poor TEAM perfromance, individuals make mistakes, but yesterdays display was nothing about individual errors, it was about a side , with no confidence, passionless, that seem to have very little desire or effort to win. A side third in the table should be able to get at least one shot on goal during 90 minutes + time added on. Very dissappointing, though not totally surprising display, many say that our destiny is in our own hands, can we raise our game to finish second, I doubt it, and we certainly don't have, in the present side, the guts, desire or determination to succeed in the play-offs.

As of now our destiny is not in our hands. Its in Cardiffs though.

kebe was shit until he went off!

he made one run when he ran the ball out of play, and a second when he tripped over the ball in the palace box.

How did we need that?

I think N hunt is a good call, he can play wide right too, stick doyle back up top wit kits.

N Hunt played right for dundee utd, and was in the scots premier team of the season their, and top goal scorer.

I think we have missed him, and when him and steve play they love it, start of the season they were banging them in, with doyle

Agreed.

If Kebe was sh+t, apparantly  before he went off, God knows what that says about his replacement

After Kebe's departure we lost any pace in the final third with Doyle looking laboured.

We know he's not perfect but when will people get off this guys back? Right now he's our best Winger and we need him badly................leave him alone, FFS

The latest version of Glen Little looks slower than me with the decision to loan out Henry more shortsighted by the day.

So Coppell goes for a 5 man midfield, and now fans moan about only having one up front!!

Perhaps the reality is that too many of the players are not actually that good, but it takes time to create a new team, we are still in that process. Many have mentioned the younger players, henry, pearce, karacan, and can we see a new young home grown team starting to appear??

And plenty aren't moaning about 4-5-1.

However, from what I've seen of Glen Little, not to mention the dire form of Stephen Hunt, Henry's loan is looking pretty effing silly.

Looking at the recording of the match, I think Kebe injured himself very early on - possibly when inadvertently taking the ball out of play. He seemed to be a bit lame (in both senses) immediately after that incident. So perhaps the "Kebe was sh*t even before he came off" was a symptom of the injury, rather than him just having one of his off games.

Definitely. Happened right in front of us - started reasonably confidently then seemed to twist or pull something as he tried to retrieve the ball on the line. He was clearly not up to it for a good five minutes before he went off.

Henrys loan would only look silly if there was any intent to use him. If not then he is better served gaining experience & match fitness. Besides his loan extension has a 24hr recall clause after the initial 1 month loan spell, so he can now be recalled & would be up to match speed.

cmonurz Why the hell are both teams in away kits?

Only just got around to reading this thread, and I know it's got nothing to do with the various character assassinations that seem to be dominating as the moment, but I did have to smile when I saw this comment. cmonurz on the ball as normal - do you not bother watching any of the various Championship highlight programmes to keep an eye on what our opponents are doing? Have you not noticed that Palace have completely changed their home kit this season?
