It was a dismissal for a second booking - the reason the red card came out first was that D'Urso was so happy that he was sending someone off so he couldn't contain his excitement.

That's what I meant, sorry. He'd got booked for dissent earlier, then the foul was a second yellow. The ref - true to his general performance - managed to show the cards the wrong way round.

By 'once again', I meant that Liam dissents far too much.

To be honest, as much as I have liked and rated Murty, and would be happy to see him back in the side for a end of season swansong, I just can't see him getting fit for more than a couple of games.

With that in mind we may as well play Kelly to show him a bit of faith and give him all the time on the pitch we can to further test and improve him. Personally I'm not convinced he'll make the grade at this level, but lets at least give him the chance.

Fair point, but I dont think now is the right time to be playing someone for experience and to see how he fairs. I think if Murts is fit, it is essential to get him in. We need experiance right now, and he has loads of it and obviously been involved in promotion fights before.

I thought he looked shaky defensively early on, then when their left-midfielder (Jarvis?) went off, grew more assured because he had space in which to attack (we were breaking well late on, I seem to recall). In other, substitute, appearances I thought he was trying a bit too hard to impress. I'm being quite critical, like I say I think he deserves to play. He wouldn't be the first player to have proved my doubts wrong if he played well!

I totally agree he was trying to hard. Can you imagine the nerves in a big expectant crowd? And against the best team in the division? But as you said, he grew in stature as the game went on. He looks a real prospect.
I love our Murts, great lad and a terrific bloke outside of football too. I've been fortunate enough to have dinner with himself and his wife. A fantastic couple. But he doesn't have the legs anymore, and he himself admits he might not have long left in the gam with a niggling injury.

It'll be sad to see him go. A terrific captain, and always fondly remembered. I hope he remains here in a coaching capacity when the time comes.
