I'll give you Bolton, Bradford, Glasgow and Turin (plus various other Russian, African and South American places not so firmly lodged in our memories) but generally speaking Liverpool has had morefootball related tragedy over the years than most teams hasn' t it....?

To answer the question the Liverpool double is of no consequence to me. I'm pretty ambivalent about England and the World Cup (would be nice if it happened, not bothered if it doesn;t), and promotion to the Premiership is so much less a desire than it was a while back. So none of the three are on my top 10 of things I really want to happen....

working class hero
thats all without mentioning the genuine tragedy the people of liverpool have had to go through

The people of Liverpool have suffered no more than the people of many other areas.

People of other areas don't have to live in Liverpool to be fair.

AF1 Proper team, proper fans, original songs - all in all putting a team/fans like us to shame

Proper team, proper fans? Unlike us? Please, give me a break. We are not a bad club and don't have a bad set of fans (yourself excluded obviously).

Hey AF1 if u love them so much why you on here talking to us 'not proper fans' and as i remember the famous kop was very quiet when we played them in our first season in the prem at anfield. And i'll rather be a royals fan than some 'proper' liverpool scum fan supporting a team lead by a fat spanish waiter.

Liverpool fans like AF1 don't like to be challenged in this way, GJ79. He'll probably insist on a minute's silence now - but as you say, if he wants a minute's silence all he needs to do is go to Anfield - LOL!

Before you vote for Reading or England, please think of the Hillsborough 86.. wouldn't it be a fitting tribute for them. never forget

Why??? Who ever wins the prem will be the team who has earnt it, just because of hillsborough 86 (i think it was 89 not 86) why should royals fans want a team like liverpool winning the league???

Not only that, but they won the league the following year anyway!

To be honest, reading this kind of drivel just adds credance to my theory that access to the internet should only be granted to over 18s of a reasonable level of intelligence.

Personally, I would like to see England win the World Cup as they last won it 8 years before I was born. I have seen Reading get promoted but I would love it to happen again. Couldn't care less about Liverpool winning the double.

ps. It seems a bit strange to be mentioning the importamt anniversary of Hilsborough after 23 years, doesn't it?

I voted on Reading promoted out of instinct, I support them. However on second thoughts I could change my mind. I've seen us win 2 promotions, I've witnessed 2 relegations too. Can't really remember 94. Realistically I'll see both events occur many more times in my lifetime. However I've never seen England win the World Cup. I was only 2 in 1990, so I've only really seen England make a good name for themselves once (Euro 96), possibly twice if you think we left France 98 with pride. I'd love to see the football team do the nation proud for once with a run to the semi-final and get us all into a proper frenzy, let alone win the thing.

WHAT? Why should we care about Liverpool? The disaster has nothing to do with anything, which is a dreadful use of english and makes no sense. Idiot. God there are so many idiots on this site. I really should give it up, but at least it makes me feel better about myself when i see the standard of the rest of the clowns that make up our town.

I hate England football with a passion and never support them. Maybe I will one day when they actually have a team of players who want to play football more than they want their next pay cheque. They are the example of primadonas (sp?).

No they aren't and money has nothing to do with it, you don't get fat pay cheques playing for england.

The underlying reason why england consistently fail at winning titles is pure and simple....they aren't good enough.

They are nowhere near the standard of spain, italy, argentina, brazil, france, etc

Our strike force is rooney, crouch, heskey and kevin davies

Why does no one simply entertain the idea that we are shite because we have shite players?

We have a few quality club players like rooney, lampard, gerrard, ferdinand, etc but they play in teams with hugely technical skillful foreign players who create more chances and score more goals with better players around them.

England are an average international team, we aren't good and we aren't rubbish either, we are simply an average team who plays a direct high tempo style which is combatted by other teams in the world who keep hold of the ball better than we do. THEY control the tempo. When we can't do everything at 90 miles an hour like the prem style of play, we run out of ideas and give the ball away.
