Another away game without defeat and another clean sheet: it's looking good. when Wolves stuff Birmingham on Monday, the success of the weekend will have been confirmed. Our international superstars will all have had a nice rest, ready to dispatch Sheffield Utd on Friday.

TBH, I can't be arsed to venture onto the Team Board that often. I can't often be arsed to post anything on AE that makes sense either, really.

However, the doom and gloom on here is very funny and has moved me to actually post something. That's probably not a good thing.. but I couldn't give a shite

Football is fun, ffs. Yeah, we might not be doing fantastic for "the forseeable future" but so what. We're challenging for the Premiership. OK.. so we might not be there... there are things that need to be sorted... but Schards... if you've been a fan as long as you keep on about... well, is this not better than the days of Division 4. Geoff Barker going off to be a Bricklayer because he couldn't afford to keep playing for Reading.

Put things in perspective for FFS. We're Reading. It's a rollercoaster ride but it's fun. We're punching way above our weight even in the Championship. Enjoy it.

Our players - with all due respect - aren't amazing at all. We are punching WAAAAY above our weight thanks to the magic Coppell has had throughout his entire career of turning water in wine.

Yet it seems the poor guy is a victim of his own success with people actually believing for some reason that Reading, even with the pathetic (but understandable and in many ways laudable) brick by brick wage/spending policy of our board are a big club. We're actually just a little club who are trying to grow cautiously and clearly were not interested in, and still are not interested in, making a definite claim for a Premiership place by spending more. We just aren't as big as we think we are. We're still little Reading, but this time joined by thousands of plastics.

Part of me can't wait for Coppell to leave so we can all see exacty how much we has made us punch above our weight.

I personally enjoyed the rough and tumble of Division 4 more than the utter dross of the last three months. It may have been a vastly inferior standard of football but at least the pulse raced occassionally.

For sheer boredom, the last few months take some beating.

I didn't agree with your first post but agree with this one. I am actually one of the 'deluded' who still think we can do it, but the second half of the season has nevertheless produced some pretty awful spectacles. The first half was great fun, and to be honest as long as we'd carried on producing some entertaining football I wouldn't have minded so much about the results. But going to the games recently has, quite frankly, been pretty depressing. Everyone wants to watch something that makes the pulse race, not some anodyne crap. I pay my 425 quid and I want to be entertained once or twice. Simple as that.

Strongly disagree with this thread. We have certain players capable of taking us back up but Coppell has cost us due to his poor tactics and team selections. He may have worked his magic for 2 seasons but we clearly ent learnt our lessons. We used to be a small club and no doubt we will turn into an small club again unless we push on

Maybe, but only because our players and management have frozen when faced with the pressures of a promotion race. Ironically, if we were 7th or 8th we'd probably still be scoring freely. This is why I'm never convinced by the "we'll get relegated next season playing like this" argument, because we wouldn't be playing in this constipated manner if we were in a different situation.

I wonder if Sheff Utd winning tomorrow would paradoxically free up the nerves somewhat for Friday? We can but live in hope!

Being able to wander round the ground to see your mates
Wind up the visiting fans
Possible knuckle outside
A pint close to the ground
The benefit of being able to move away from some asshole you don`t like
Smoke during the game
Not being laughed at by some plastic nearby when you try to get behind the team
Cheaper relative admission prices
No music after goals
Getting home by train without leaving ten minutes from the end of evening games

Lets go for it.

I couldn't agree more. Football now is more about business, foreignh takeovers, Champions League, weakened domestic cup selections and the "Big 4". The joke 10 - 20 years ago was that half time was extened to 45 minutes t enable the launch of another Man Utd away kit. Unfortunately, we are no better ourselves. Success has killed the dream. The hope and expectation that every new season would bring has now been replaced with a rabid demand for more so-called success. Whereas I criticise my misses for falling into the media trap associated with shape and fashion, we ourselves are becoming a generation of media whores and junkies wanting to gorge ourselves on the concept that is Sky Sports.

We have become way too serious and we have forgotten that football is supposed to be fun!

Give me Friday night away trips to Colchester and Southend any day!

Wow every thing i was thinking my friend, we have been seduced by the Might of Sky who hype up every game on TV and tell us that the only place to be is in the Premier, But that is the place where all the biggest wage earners Biggest Stars and the biggest cheats, liars, bigets, time wasters no where in industry would these people get away with it, I for one who has supported football for over 45 years is now sick of the sight of it all. i shall be going down the local park next year and watching real footy
