Oh well, looks like W&E will have to settle for play offs now having been beaten 4-2 away at Truro. Finished with 9 men. 2-0 down with 6 minutes left it must have been one hell of a finish!!

At they at least made a decent fight of it by the sounds of it.

... and Bracknell went down 0-1 at home to Taunton - 85th min. :( looks as if The Robins will have to target Bishops Cleeve for their survival - they host Thatcham (tonight Wed 25th) - and B'nell's next game @ Truro - things are bleaker still.

... meanwhile Andover pulled off an unlikely 2-1 win over Bridgwater with two goals in the last 5 mins - Sluff were beaten 3-0 at Burnham and Diddy completed the misery, going down 1-2 @ Cinderford.

Oh and needless to say Town flopped again in the Hellenic Prem: lost 2-1 @ Flackwell.

Big game in that division saw Hungerford and Witney draw 1-1 - crowd 110.

In Div One East - Binfield scraped past Holyport 2-1, go above Wokkers now 6 pts behind leaders Ascot with 4 games in hand - crowd tonight @ Stubbs Lane 'officially' 112 - I was there and not sure where they got that figure from :? - my 'headcount' put it between 60-70 - s'pose they could have all been sheltering in the clubhouse - weather was a bit 'mank' especially 2nd half.
Henley's recent revival stuttered at Thame where they lost 1-0.

...
and "yet again" and apparently

Reading loanee Ross Kitteridge played a blinder in goal (the one position that we are not shy on)

The aforementioned Julian Alsop recovered enough to play midweek for Bishops Cleeve (1) against Thatcham (0) in front of a crowd of 41(in case you have spent your week worrying).

... not too good for our sides in the SOUTHERN ONE SW this week - though W&E won 3-0 at Andover to go back 2nd.

... trouble is Truro won 1-0 (og  ) @ Paulton on Mon. night so are now 7 points clear.

Beaconsfield lost 0-1 at Nor Lye - Diddy beat Bracknell 3-0 meaning they are now bottom cos  Winchester won again, this time 3-2 H v Cinderford.

Elsewhere :-
- Reading T were beaten at 1-2 home by the Almonds  now well adrift of the top six.
- Marlow Utd (that's the smaller of the two Marlows) won the Hellenic Floodlit Cup Final against league leaders Hungerford [3-2 AET] on their ground.
- Henley Town bt Eton Wick 5-0
- Binfield won 4-1 @ Holyport to go level on points with leaders Ascot and they have 2 games in hand.

UPDATES from this w/e's busy schedule...

CONF-S

Magpies draw 3-3 @ H&W - Pacquette equalising pen on 85 mins.
'stoke win a vital 'bottom clash' vs Furrock 1-0 - and are now 12 pts clear of the Essex club who occupy the highest relegation spot and only have 5 games left.

at the top Wombles and Beavers both win.

SOUTH 1SW

Robins win 1-0 vs Abingdon Utd but stay bottom cos Winchester beat Sluff 3-1. Just above them Taunton got walloped 5-2 at AFC Hayes (where Bracknell have to go this Tue.) Andover drew 2-2

... no change at the top where the leading clubs all won:
Truro - have won (incredible for this level) 14 out of 15, Totton, W&E, Beaconsfield, Diddy & Thatcham - latter are now 8 pts off the last PO spot with only 6 games left.

HELLENIC
Premier
RG Town not in action - leaders Hungerford held @ Fairford - Witney win 5-2 away and Shortwood in 2nd bt Bicester - Hungerford's big lead of a month or so back has evaporated - Shortwood only 3 pts behind now and the two meet on Easter Saturday!
Intriguingly both Shortwod and Witney ( 1 pt further back) have to play Old Woodstock in their next matches - who've had some very impressive results against the top six since the New Year.

One East
Similar tension at the top: Ascot 2-1, Binfield 6-0, and Wokkers 5-1, all win but Binfield are now level on pts and GD with Ascot and have 2 games in hand. Ascot comfortably ahead on Goals scored.
Newbury held 3-3 by Thame; Finch beat Kintbury 4-0; Henley draw 1-1 @ Chinnor and Eton Wick were probably consigned to the Wooden Spoon for the third (or fourth?) year running losing 3-0 at home to long-term basement club Launton Sports.

Just been reading on the Maidenhead forum that H&R would be denied automatic promotion/playoffs as their ground isnt up to scratch....

unfortunately, that is how the FA are calling th shots right now.

Many lower division teams (step 5,6,7 etc) have been denied promotions for a long time now.

Some for having inadequate seating, some (even) for not having numbers on their seats....ultimately some for not having two turnstiles (despite having less than 100 fans turning up to watch them week in week out and barely needing just the one).

The FA...killing clubs

Hampton have things in place should it happen, they were told last season that they could not even make the play offs unless they erected a stand that held 250 seats, they did that, they then had to install 2 new dug outs and an extra turnstile, this was all done, the extra work that needs doing will be done before next season.

... - apparently it was flagged up last season that they had insufficient seating and only got over it with a 'temporary stand jobby'.
Obviously people have been asking why (if they knew work was required back then) they haven't upgraded permanently in the last twelvemonth? Probably their location deep in a pocket of NIMBYLAND would be the root of the problem.

But like Tredder says they have known about it for a while and a lot of the 'rumours' surfacing seem to be sourced from rivals messageboards.....

... there is a lot of 'chatter' re several well placed clubs about 'work still needing to be done' and FA deadlines ... apparently Witney had the 'wrong kind of hardstanding' around their pitch and had to call in volunteers to sweep it away/relay it BUT hadn't formally informed the FA that the work was underway ... hence 2+2 =7 - and a lot of Hellenic 'fans' were announcing that Witney - with one of the best STEP05 STADIUMS around were about to be demoted!!!

... but if H&R rumours are true, could end up with a two way play-off to join the CONF-National - though I doubt if Magpies can catch up 5 pts in 4 games?

Big game tonight (Mon) : Chelmsford vs Beavers !

Elsewhere - Team Baah appear to be in serious 'constitutional' crisis as well as having issues with their current - (soon to expire?) groundshare at Twerton.
Looks as if the Blue Square Prem/FL wouldn't admit them because of the way they are set-up/funded currently - i.e. as an academic institution?

...could be good news for sides near the bottom (Furrock are hopeful of a reprieve should BS chuck them out altogether)

... and finally Lee Newman (presumably - though I haven't checked - the same chap I lauded on here who "for personal reasons :? " surprisingly left Maidenhead last month) has (allegedly) been done for dealing - got 4 1/2 yrs ?

The rumour stemmed from the conference south forum, and was from a newbie and was backed up by a St Albans fan, this has been proved to be a wind up and there are no plans by the FA to issue Hampton with new directives, so, it's as it was, and if we get 3 points tonight then we go level with AFC and have them at home in 2 weeks in a classic all seater encounter

Ticketing Arrangements for AFC Wimbledon game.

Although the game does not take place until the 18th April, with the previous healthy attendances and the prospective importance of this game the club has been in discussions with AFC Wimbledon, Richmond Council and the Emergency Services regarding the arrangements for this game.

Capacity
The ground’s capacity has been set at 3250 for this game; this figure has to include all match day staff. AFC Wimbledon have been given an allocation of 1750, whist Hampton have an allocation of 1350. This leaves an allocation of 150 for Stewards, Bar & Catering Staff, Police, Security and Press.

Tickets
The game will be an ALL TICKET game; there will be no tickets available on the day. All tickets must have been bought or picked up by Friday 17th April at 6.30pm. Hampton fans can purchase their tickets direct from Hammond’s or over the phone by calling 0208 979 2456 (there will be an additional charge for posted tickets). Tickets will be available to purchase from Saturday 21st March. Hampton season ticket holders must bring their season tickets with them on the 18th April to gain entry. The club will also be selling seated only tickets, any season ticket holder who wishes to guarantee a seat in one of the two stands on the day will need to pick up a seating ticket from Hammond’s. You will need to show your season ticket to pick up this ticket.

The deadline for tickets to be posted is Tuesday 14th April, fans need to remember that the Easter weekend falls between the 10th & 13th so this will affect postage times.

AFC Wimbledon fans will only be able to purchase their tickets direct from AFC Wimbledon. Hampton & Richmond Borough will be selling home tickets only. AFC Wimbledon will inform their fans of the ticketing arrangements directly.

LOL @ Wimbledon being given more tickes than the home supporters.

Go on the Wombles, they would actually make a very welcome addition to the Blue Square Premier.

I disagree with you to be honest. I think Wimbledon will win the league regardlessas their fixtures are far more favourable than Hampton's.

I wouldn't be surprised if they did.

Wimbledon have

basingstoke (H)
bromley (a)
St Albans (H)

I can't see many dropped points there to be honest.

As long as it goes to the maiders game, i'll be happy, but if the beavers win tonight, they will go on to win the league.
