back from the game

by willz_royal » 10 Apr 2009 19:34

What can I say. Tried hard, still crap. Dropping out of the playoffs seems likely. Doobs awful, ref awful, but I suppose we did play better overall. Usas kicking was just atroscious.

Dejected.

I thought according to your rules only those who have been to the game can comment on "Back from the game" thread.

Good players lacking ideas, good team lacking a spark to get them playing. No surprises in the loss IMO. Sooner this season ends the better as far as I'm concerned.

Play off failure would have been a good result at the start of the season. We never really got going but still looked easily good enough for autos up until Santa brought us shit form for Xmas.

Hi Ho another season in the Chumpionship. Boo oxf*rd hoo. Next season I would most like to see:

a) a slightly more consistent, but maybe less good start to the season
b) a much better second half of the season
c) readingbedding hung drawn and quartered for his stupid jinxing promotion party cnut thread.

well this is what i thought on the game.....horrible.

no one deserved to win and after that performance we do not deserve to go up, even through the play-offs. although we were slighly better i thought a draw would have been a fair result as we never really tested kelly. i watched the game on sky as im on the otherside of the country and the despite all the possesion sheff utd had more shots than us on goal. to clear up a few things as well, doobs deserved his yellow as his foot was high and caught the guys ankle and we had no basis for a penalty claim as the it hit the guys head despite his raised arm.

hahnemann - 6 his distribution was jekyll and hyde like, but otherwise performed well when called upon

kelly - 5.5 looked really nervous and gave a couple of silly balls away. one good cross to note and got forward well
bikey 7- won alot of headers, great bit of skill for his effort on goal and is a class above the rest of our defence. but gave away some silly free kicks.
doobs 5 - got stuck in but his distribution is god awful
stretch 6 - defended and attacked well and not much got passed him

kebe 5 - one good cross for kitsons header and won a couple of good tackles but that was it. for a winger he should be beating his man and getting the ball in, which he didnt.
cisse 6 - hesitated for a header and that lead to his injury but before that he did his job well.
matejovsky 6.5 - definitely a class above, and was our only real creative force in midfield.
shunt 5- the more i see this guy the more infuriated i get. every time the ball went to him, his touch left him, he gives away the ball, his fails to beat his man, he delivers a poor cross,etc..

doyle 6- he worked his ass off but with the service he's getting im not surprised he didnt score.
kitson 6 - great flicks and unlucky with his header.

subs:
tabb 6- for a small guy he likes a tackle, kept it simple and looked alright.
little 5 - not enough time but didnt do much.
nhunt - not much time to make an impact but unlucky with his header on goal.

Best game I have seen Marek play for us.

Where was shunt supposed to be playing?

Lost all shape after Marek went off

We were unlucky; Kitson could have scored two and why did our best chances in the first half fall to central defenders?

Tabb and Marek looked good in CM

Marcus. Distribution. Awful - but to be fair, some of the back passes were laughable

Support: SHIT! No noise whatsoever.

Shunt has played in every game this season. WHY?

Kebe is still not a winger let alone a footballer

Some strange decisions by the ref - for a change - NOT

At least our future this season is no longer in our own hands. What SSC needs to do now is to get the heads right so that we can face the play offs head on. Our season now has 8 more games!

He did not get injured, so is more likely to get a move in the summer.

For what it is worth

USA-------5-----------Done what he had to ok, distribution gave the united defense valuable heahing practice
Kelly------6-----------A young promising lad I thought he done ok
Duberry--5-----------Cumbersome, no passing ability, just hoof and hope
Bikey-----5-----------Always expect him to "cock up" during a game at sometime, too many ridiculous fouls
Stretch--6-----------The normal stretch, largly reliable, and would be more effective if he had a left winger that was worth his place
Kebe-----4-----------Amateurish sham display
Marek----6------------Was the only player with any creativity in the first half, disappeared in second and was taken off
Cisse-----4-----------Was hardly involved prior to his injury, but then again he is in midfield so wouldn't expect him to be
Hunt S----4----------Shouldn't need a shower after that horrendous display, totally spiritless and he is fading rapidly
Doyle------7----------A credit worked his arse off and deserves all the praise
Kitson-----7----------Tried and tried but had absolutely no service

Little-----5----------Added a little bit, but definately not the player he was and in all honesty doesn't give us much
Tabb-------3----------Never worked out why we bought him, lucky not to get sent off, 2 minutes after coming on
Hunt N-----5---------Whats the point of bringing him on so late

Coppell-----3--------Responsible for this and since December for this lifeless, dull, uninspiring and spiritless shambles of a team.

I thoroughly enjoyed it, mostly due to the fact that I stuck some dosh on a Sheffield United win. 7 games left, or 5 the way we're going, bring on the end of Coppell.

Tabb...3 ???? Thought he did really well. Put some crunching tackles in and showed real commitment. Should start ahead of SHunt on Monday...SHunt was again hopeless today.
Bikey is too casual but he deserves more than a 5 for some good defending and a brilliant run...but he did get badly caught out from their hoof upfield....still love him as a player though.
Despite all the doom and gloom were Sheff Utd the better side?...I dont think so.

Was Cisse playing? Amazing.

From what I've read on the board I expected us to perform a lot worse tonight.

I thought we played reasonably well but we are lacking creativity very badly. We shouldn't be with the players we have, but we are, and that is the fault of the coaching team and the management.

Very depressing, very depressing, and I got badly abused down my local. Terrible night.
