Royal Rother I much prefer Coppell's honesty.

Managers have a whole list of ready-made excuses / off-pat phrases up their sleeves but it is very unlikely they can really know the reasons for a poor display in its immediate aftermath, or often even after detailed analysis. Managers generally speak for the sake of it, (but it doesn't mean it's any more than guesswork that comes out of their mouths) - Coppell rarely if ever does that.

Well RR I too admire his honesty but what I find it very difficult to understand is how he cant seem to see the frailties of our methods. I mean there are number of things in the past couple of weeks which seem beyond him. 5 man midfields, our lack of decent wide players. Even I can see that things were going wrong.

Binfield Royal If Coppell goes - and I am a big fan and hope he doesn't, we'll need the following attributes in our new manager if we're to get back in the Prem:

1. Proven Track record of getting promoted
2. Commands players respect
3. Good contacts for new players at top clubs (eg Man U)
4. Not currently in a job as we won't want to pay compensation to another club
5. Good connections in Ireland (well its worked up til now!)

Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you....................

I thought half Keane's problem was that he has no respect from players.

Shouting at people and being a disciplinarian does not equal respect.

Royal Rebel I think that when a Manager comes out with the statement, "I don't know where it went wrong", every time you lose, that clearly he needs to question his abilities.Clearly he should be analysing the mistakes a little better.
If I told my boss week in week out that "I dont know what went wrong" everytime I was culpable, that I'd be joining the dole queue faster than Jimmy Kebe gets down the flank !!! (Ok maybe a bit quicker).
Clearly whilst he's done miracles for this club it's time for a change for both parties I feel.

or he could just come out with some randonmly made up reason to placate people like you!
its likely in a game of 11 vs eleven over 90 minutes that any summation of "what went wrong" wouldnt easily fit into a newspaper soundbite anyway

also he didnt say that yesterday
he said the players bottled it effectively, got too nervous, and lost the plot
is that what you wanted?

If we were to get a new manager i would love to see Paolo Di Canio get the job. A man with a huge passion for english football who would command respect of all the players and according to what i have read was the outstanding coach when he took his courses to get his coaching badges in Italy's top coaching academy where all the italian coaches such as Ancelotti, Capello and Zola started their coaching.
