Rumour - Jamie Ashdown

As he has rejected a contract at Portsmouth could we, should we see about getting him back?

Might as well.

He's a good keeper

His time has finally come now to replace Hahnemann.

Think I read today that B'ham were after him, would be more than happy for him to come back here though.

He was linked with Brum in one paper this morning.

Good 'keeper, always rated him, disappointing to see him leave when he did. Brilliant competition for Federici.

If B'ham are after him he'll probably go there assuming they go up.

Although if they're after him as back up and we offer him a first team place he might rejoin.

Would seem a little harsh on Fed, but I guess that's how you improve the team.

Oddly I looked on News Now for any news on Ashdown last night as something made me think of keepers we could sign to replace Marcus for next season

I would be happy to see Ashdown come in as number for next year and keep Fed as back up

The other name I came up with would be Joe Hart on loan for the season. Not sure that would be a good long term move for the club but as a short term fix he would be a great signing. Think he will more than likely go to an existing Prem club or one of the promoted teams though

I know it's stupid and probably irrational but I just don't rate Hart. He was poor when I saw him against us last season and there's just something about how he looks that makes me think he's shit.

Don't worry I'm with you Ian!

He seems to be the most overrated keeper around at the moment (maybe its because he is English?). He is terrible at dealing with crosses and he really fails to command his area. He's a decent shot-stopper at best, but nothing special. He is only young and he will improve, but at the present he's no more than an average keeper.

I'd rather have Federici to be quite honest. He's probably played more football recently, and will know his back line. I also think his distribution will be amongst our main weapons next season.

By next season the amount of football he's played recently will be irrelevant.

If we don't go up then the back four is going to change significantly too, so I don't think that will have any impact on the decision either.

I'd like to see Ashdown return as I'm still not 100% convinced by Federici but he performed better than I thought he would during his time in the side so I wouldn't be too worried if he started the season as our number 1 IF we don't go up.

If we go up I think we'll need a new keeper to replace Hahnemann as number 1 with Federici remaining as backup.
