I agree with below sentiments. I highly respect the Reading FC Irish players but can't abide Celtic Bhoys and their plastic paddy pals desercrating out great stadium and glorifying terrorism.

No Surrender!

readingbedding Graeme Murty is delighted to get the chance to face Celtic in his testimonial match next May.

“It’s a dream to get them down here and I’m sure the fans will love seeing one of the biggest clubs in Britain here.”

Until they start singing " up the ra".

Bit of a tough one for me, murty is an absolute legend and my favorite reading player of all time, I would love to be there to show my support and thanks for his great service to our club.
That said, I truly despise the chosen club and really hope they don't behave like their typical bigoted arrogant selves when they turn up at the mad stad. Prepare for a " who the fvking hell are you" attitude all game from the celtic fans and constant pisstaking if/when they score.

I am torn over whether to go or not.

With our own massive Irish contingent I can see this being some kind of anti-British love-in.
I'll pay for your match ticket if you wear a Rangers shirt Fine Rain.
I'll also come and visit you in the Royal Berks.

I have been amazed at the utter lack of any kind of profile for testimonial events.

As someone was had a small part in Parky's testimonial and has supported various club / Royals Family events I've had no info on what has been happening for Murts, which means I've not taken part in anything.

He deserves better IMHO

Does it have anything to do with tax implications, possibly..

The events aren't supposed to be commercial, hence there is very little marketing done or that which is done is very close to the event.

The money collected is then tax free??? not sure!!! but it's just a thought...

Well, according to my mate, we were meant to be playing Brentford for one of their players' testimonials - so I can't see how that would work!!

What club commits to a players testimonial and then a few months down the line decides they can't be arsed and are doing something else.

Ah yes- celtic.
