Huntley & Palmer
FiNeRaIn What club commits to a players testimonial and then a few months down the line decides they can't be arsed and are doing something else.

Ah yes- celtic.

Rangers would put themselves forward but they start their UEFA Champions League qualifying rounds that day

Won't reading need more time to recover from their playoff defeat, bit early to start playing testimonials IMO.

From the way Murts has always talked about it on the radio it was always a bit iffy if Celtic were actually going to be the oppo for the game

Last couple of times he has mentioned it on the radio it sounded like it wasnt going to happen so I doubt they ever committed to it. More likely it has something to do with the costs and/or when the date was being confirmed as (ie us being in the play offs has shifted the date)

Surely we'd like some opposition Reading could beat?

Celtic wanted in excess of £100k just for putting a team out + TVP were asking for masses of many to police the game

Royal Lady Well, according to my mate, we were meant to be playing Brentford for one of their players' testimonials - so I can't see how that would work!!

2 legs, home and away? Practice in case we or Brentford ever get into Europe.

Thank God this town wont have to endure twisted fools singing IRA songs with smiles on their faces and insisting you tell them over and over how great, special and friendly they are (cos if you dont you're getting stabbed byraway!)

Phew

celtic pulling out early? now why does that sound familiar?

bit like their "committed" tour of japan that meant the spl couldn't extend last season yet they still have never been to japan 12 months later

When's the Testimonial

by fridays child » 14 May 2009 09:13

Can't find the old thread about this but when the heck is it.

Would be nice if team were managed by SSC so we can say a proper goodbye.

No fixed date was given as far as I can remember and Celtic have pulled out anyway. Poor Murts.
