Atmosphere on Sunday

by 1871royals » 28 Apr 2009 10:07

If Colin can do us a favour, Sun is effectively a playoff.

We should try to make the atmosphere similar to the Wolves fans did in playoffs.

Whenever a RFC player got on the ball the majority of Moluniex passionately booed.

I think we got to do that to make Mad Stad as intimidating as possible.

Also with the game being a sell out (I assume) with traffic everyone will need to get there early anyway, so we can make it a cauldron of noise before the game kicks off.

The club / STar have organised clappers similar to those are Arsenal away last season to hopefully drown out the Brum support.
just drown Brum support out. That's the basics sorted.

Apparantly they appealed to the FA and we have been told we must give them it all. Royals fans with South Stand tickets will have their tickets revoked.

Sesible move, much better than having thousands of ticketless brummies at the ground, what a cunning plan that was, bad luck Spacey tho

As the OS says they are still on sale in the south stand this is absolute nonsense....more likely that brum fans will have got tickets in the home end though.

They may try, but succeeding may be harder - the benefit of membercards is that anyone who has a membercard and has only attended Birmingham games will find they cannot get a ticket for this one according to the conversation we had with the club yesterday.

I know having to get a membercard is a pain but it does have the effect of leaving a trail of purchases which helps so that a real Reading supporter with a Brum address will have a purchase history showing other games while a Brum supporter living in Reading is less likely to get a ticket in the home stands.

Perhaps we should do as Norwich did to our supporters last night;force them to sit and therefore reduce the effectiveness of their support.
When I asked why this rule didn't apply to their home fans ,the chief steward told me he was "under orders to keep our fans quiet" and not bother about home fans.Perhaps the Madstad tangos could enforce ground safety rules or am I expecting too much................

Nope, I have a ticket in the home part of the south stand. Unfortuantely it's row C - but at least I got a ticket!

They also plan to clear space in the East Stand if there are too many BlueNoses hanging around.

Half the stand will be told to leave for the first half and then the other half will be kicked out at half time to allow the first lot back in.

I heard the club are sacrificing a couple of stewards to the gods around 2ish to get the crowd going.

What I will say, DG, on "this old gripe" is thus:

The Norwich stewards in our section are the first stewards I've seen in a while who actually carried out the "sitting down of fans" in the correct way - that being starting at the front of the standing group and moving to the back of the stand. That way, no-one in the back row can moan that there's no point in sitting down until the people in front of them are sat down.

Perhaps our stewards should have a rethink of the methods they use of trying to get fans to sit down.
