In the other play off there was high drama at the end of the game between AFC Totton and Beaconsfield SYCOB, with a mass punch up involving players, crowd, 6 police cars and attending officers...

Here is a report from a Totton fan...

I have been watching football for 35 Years and I have not seen anything quite like those HORRIFIC scenes after the game. BEACONSFIELD WERE A DISGRACE!!! Apparently both Aiden Lewis and Gareth Barfoot were assaulted ( Gareth has a huge mark down the side of his face ). A certain MR Nichols was again in the thick of it baiting home supporters along with a few of their other players. They spat in our crowd, one of our ball boys ( my son ) got hit in the face with a corner flag that they broke as they came off and he has a little bruising down his face. Oh and they ripped some fittings off of the away changing room wall and THREW it out of the changing room wall WITHOUT OPENING IT!!! They also kicked in some panelling in the changing room. The sewards were at full stretch trying to keep the fans and players apart at the end as well as having to go on the pitch to try ( in vain ) to calm things down. Oh and they have alleged that one of our fans hit one of their players. I later found ut that they assaulted him first according to many witnesses. The only time we have had trouble at Testwood Park this season was against Uxbridge and who was playing for them that day???

Here from their local paper

THERE were disgraceful scenes after the final whistle as AFC Totton booked their ticket to the final of the BGB Southern 1 South & West play-offs with a tense 2-1 victory over Beaconsfield SYCOB last night.

As the Stags were celebrating victory after holding on in a tense finale, a mass brawl broke out during which a member of the Beaconsfield coaching staff was clearly seen to kick Totton goalkeeper Gareth Barfoot in the head.

Such was the vicious nature of the assault that the police were called and what should have been a champagne night for Totton ended under in utter disarray.

But manager Stuart Ritchie refused to let it overshadow a marvellous achievement by the Stags, who now host Didcot Town in the final on Saturday after the Oxfordshire side stunned second-placed Windsor & Eton 2-0 in the other semi-final.

“Beaconsfield behaved like a bunch of animals, they were totally out of order, but it’s not going to ruin our night,” said the Stags boss. “We’re good people here and we can stand up to that, no problem.

“Robbo (left-back Matt Robinson) is a policeman and he saw the whole thing.”

And now the report from the Beaconsfield press:

VIGILANTES marred Beaconsfield SYCOB’s first ever play-off match after a group of hard core AFC Totton supporters stormed the pitch following their side’s 2-1 victory on Tuesday night.

Police were called following what is sure to be one of the most tense spectacles seen at Testwood Park for along time, which resulted in a brawl after the final whistle, with both clubs likely to be reported to the FA for violent conduct.

The eight on hand stewards were unable to stop a handful of incensed fans from spilling onto the pitch and laying into SYCOB players after the visitors were forced to retaliate in defence.

Rams’ boss Jamie Jarvis received a cowardly blow to the back of the head from Stags’ goalkeeper Gareth Barfoot for his troubles in trying to protect one of his players, whilst former Wycombe Wanderers defender Steve Dell sustained a bloody nose after being set upon by players and fans alike.

Authorities took statements from both sets of club officials, but are not expected to press any charges for assault. Supporters were contained behind barriers for 20 minutes after the match before eventually being re-routed back through the turnstiles to avoid any further disturbances.

Remarkably, it’s not the first time that the Hampshire side have been in the spotlight, after Uxbridge reported similar inappropriate conduct earlier in the season, which also ended in bad taste.

Tensions between the both sides were always going to run high on Tuesday given what was at stake [a place in the play-off final], and the seemingly inconceivable number of bookings made throughout the match.

“I thought the referee was biased,” blasted Jarvis. “We had 10 players booked against their one or two. The only player who wasn’t shown a yellow card was our goalkeeper, so that pretty much says it all.

“On the playing side, I felt we had three chances to win the match, but didn’t take them. We now need to turn our attention to strengthening the squad for next season if we’re looking to gain promotion to the Premier Division.

“For me, as a manager, that’s important,” he added.

SYCOB started well enough against Totton, with Craig O’Connor perhaps coming closest to giving the visitors the early lead after breaching the home side’s backline.

But the hosts struck back with a vengeance before the interval through top scorer James Taylor, and an impressive free kick from Ryan Hill just shy of the half-hour mark.

Yet, amid the controversy of the leading match official, the visitors notably upped the tempo midway through the second period. And, although the hosts hit the woodwork twice, the Rams were thrown a lifeline when Bradley Bubb broke clear of his marker to pull one back for SYCOB after 70 minutes.

The division’s heavyweight scorer, however, was put to the test four minutes from time after his side were awarded an undisputed penalty, which Bubb amazing failed to convert to level the proceedings.

Even a goal-line scramble on the stroke of the final whistle had looked to have crossed the line, but again Jarvis’ men were denied by some frantic defending.

Highly entertaining to see such differing interpretations!!

I went to this - bit concerned about the weather though - all the way up the A4074 the skies got darker and you could see rain all around to the North. Bit of Thunder & Lightening too, as the match started but miraculously nothing came of it.

Not a great game but was the end of a hard season for both clubs - Newport Pagnell looked knackered over the 90 mins - Town were sharper, fresher and much more mobile - could have won by a lot more.

1-0 1st Half - towering header from a free-kick (Hancock)
2-0 2nd Half - penalty (Parfitt)

Grace in the Town goal didn't have much to do - Town's back four easily kept NPT's forwards at bay - apparently their No.9 had just got back from holiday and was jet-lagged - and he looked about the liveliest. :?

... the surface was a disgrace but then I don't spose there were many other grounds available when the B&B FA tried to book a venue acceptable to both sides.
Most of the previous grounds used for this were possibly in line to have Play Offs this week (Chesham, Windsor, Diddy, Thatch etc etc)

Crowd was officially 126 - though there were an awful lot of County FA 'Blazers' there - probably on freebies - NPT seemed to be made up of a lot of MK Dons fans.
Little Drummer Boy was there with his pals too - kept up a good 'noise' through most of the game.

Quite a few Reading 'faces' in the crowd - including the venerable Mr Downs - shame my mate pestered him (again) about 'The Goal That Never Was' - (that''s the Tommy Youlden one v Rochdale at EP not this season's one) - but fair play to the man for taking time to have a chat. :)

A friend of a friend was reffing that. Contrary to reports he says one of the managers was arrested at the end of the game.

Mr Downs can often be found around Tilehurst Triangle. Spoken with him numerous times, most recently when we were both waiting for our cars to be fixed at Car Contacts. Lovely bloke!

Hayes and Yeading bedding overturn a 2-4 home defeat to Eastleigh by beating the Spitfires 4-0 at theirs in the BS South Play off semis.

Didcot won 2-1 at AFC Totton in ET and gain promotion to the BGB Premier

oh, and Reading Town won the Berks and Bucks Senior Cup final .............worth the third mention

... and this might be the third or fourth attempt at a correction but it was the Berks and Bucks Senior Trophy

.. the Senior Cup is being played on Monday at Stadium:MK - Marlow vs Windsor

Play Offs
Hayes & Yeading now meet the Beavers in the CONF-S Final @ Beveree on Thursday eve.

... elsewhere -

Farnborough lost 0-1 at home in the SOUTHERN Prem PO Final to Gloucester City - who don't currently play in Gloucester but 'lodge' at the Corinium Stadium Cirencester.

Staines bt Carshalton 1-0 to get promotion with Dover to the CONF-S

Nuneaton bt Chasetown 1-0 in front of over 3000 - join Leamington, Truro and Diddy in the Southern Prem.

Cray Wanderers (who I think are the 2nd or 3rd oldest club in the country) bt 'The Filth' 1-0 - to go up to the Isthmian Premier. Haven't picked up the result of Waltham Abbey vs Concord Rangers: was 1-1 at end of normal time - Concord are the 'other' senior club on Canvey Island.

Windsor & Eton won the B&B Senior Cup 1-0 against Marlow.

They played the best football I've seen them produce which, after a pretty poor end to the League season was good to see. Could have been 4 or 5 against an outclassed Marlow team.

Cambridge-Torquay final

Well at least you an laugh at yourself. Fair play.

i was at Histon yesterday so once again my location comes into relevance. Awful, just awful.

It literally is a village just north of Cambridge, the ground is actually not the worst i've been to this season in BSP, especially for what they are but the pitch was a disgrace, their style of football is like their assistant manager, John Beck. 95minutes (4mins added on was a joke, then he plays over 5) of absolute solid long balls, long throw ins,the only time Histon kept the ball on the floor was the kick off. It's why their pitch was so bad, whether they'd let some cows from up the road graze on it for a few days whilst leaving the sprinklers on for 24 hours i have no idea. It was a bog, it cut up in the warm up, it was basically to completely stop any chance of a football match breaking out.

Despite losing the game (to a long throw) The Gulls managed to hang on in there against the biggest aerial bombardment seen on English soil since the Germans had a go, to narrowly just lose the game 1-0 and thus win the tie 2-1.

Relief at the final whistle, what yesterday again reinforced is the necessity to get promotion asap. it's not like other leagues where it's a fantastic bonus to get promoted, it is sheer necessity to get promoted back to the league and not have to go to Histon, Grays and the like.

Another trip to Wembley, very much looking forward to it at the moment but come the 17th the nerves will kick in again. I'd honestly say of all the playoff finals the Blue Square Premier is the most important.

Crowd at Beveree : 3111 -
EXACTLY the same number as at the PO Final in The SOUTHERN MIDLAND @ Nuneaton? :?

... some silverware for other 'local' sides:

Fleet Town picked up the Hants Senior Cup (bt VTFC 1-0 @ St Mary's last week) & the Hants FA Charity (Russell Cotes) Cup (bt another Wessex Premier side Hayling Utd 3-1 on Tuesday)

Anyone remember Darren Campbell ?- I saw him when he came on for us in a 3-0 (?) win at Vicarage Rd a few years back - sadly retired from pro-football with injury - he was a non-playing sub for Fleet but has featured quite a lot for them this season. Programme from Tue eve says he captained Scotland U19s.
There was another kiddy played that evening @ Watford - think Curo bagged a couple - but can't think of his name and I'm too idle to dig out the prog - if I've still got it!
Also in the Fleet line-up was GK David Smalley & FW Jermaine Hamilton - both list Reading as former clubs - can't say I recall either of them?
Oh and the Fleet manager is Andy Sinton amongst many, ex- of Fake Hoops, Sheff Wed, Spurs and Wolves - and 12 England Caps

...anyways - they are in two more Finals next week
- The North Hants Senior vs Andover on Monday 11th @ Fleet and then
- The Aldersh@t Senior Cup @ The Military Stadium next Wednesday 13th vs Alton Town.

Thatcham Town won the Basingstoke Senior Cup last night at Waterside Pk 4-1 vs AFC Aldermaston from the Wessex One
