2 world wars, 1 world cup
Jackson Corner
RG30 Billy Davies on the support;

"I want to say a huge thank you to the wonderful away fans for their support and the way they got behind the players and the manager. The home fans should take a leaf out of their book."

http://www.nottinghamforest.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10308~1573619,00.html

They were booing them off the park when they lost to Derby. And as mentioned they were silent first half. All away fans outsing Reading, it's nothing new.

ALOL at Reading fans getting wound up by opposition managers and fans having a go at our support being horrific.

It's about time we faced the truth instead of throwing our toys out our plastic pram when I or others state the obvious.

(not directed at you JC at all, just happened to be the one I quoted)

JUST last year there was more noise than now, 2, 3 and 4 years ago there was lots of passion, more shouting, jeering and singing. How did that all dissapear so quickly?

West Stand Man
Big Bears Blouse egonistic

????

http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=egoistic

I spelt it wrong in the first instance.

So literally, someone who thinks 'i'm right, everyone else is wrong, have my point of view, or none at all' in a very extreme circumstance. I'm not so sure Platypuss is that bad... he's probably a big teddy bear really.

Lesson over, don't forget your books next time, class!

Anyone who posts on an internet messageboard with the genuine belief that anyone actually cares what they think has to have more than a little bit of self-love going on.

In which case you have to ask why are internet message boards even here, folk do care what others say, same as discussing it down the pub, perhaps the difference is that down the pub you talk with like minded people, and on here there are other views.

Quite right. If no-one else cares about what others say, what's the point of Moderators?!!

Is it too much to ask that you actually think about what I said?

Anyone would think that having a little bit of ego is necessarily a bad thing.

I did, I do care what you think/say and I still think that comment was rubbish.

I agree with a lot of the points in the thread, but it means nothing if something isn't actually done about it. We need to stop burying our heads in the sand when it comes to things like this, so I applaud 2WW1WC for bringing the matter up. No, Reading don't have the history to boast an extraordinary and passionate fanbase but it doesn't mean we have to put up with it.

The simple solution is that if everyone on here starts putting even a little more effort (ie. those who don't sing and get involved normally) to actually have fun at home games then we'll see the difference and most probably pull in some of the sit and watch fans that don't post on here with us. We've complained about it before but what has really been done? F*ck all. It's time to act. We need a call to arms.

In the rare event that I manage to go to a home game nowadays (I go the university, miles away) I try my best to do such things, and get people involved with me, there's no use in complaining about the issue and then sitting on yer buttocks and doing nothing.

The sit down / stand up issue / sing / be quiet issue could only be reviewed after a possily representative of the club / safety officials and STAR sat down and thrashed this issue out. The mentality of the away support is so much better due to the factors involved in usually picking your own seats. Unreserved seating of low attendance at away games usually sorts this issue out despite the low alloaction / lack of away support shown on occasions.

That's certainly a nice sentiment, but doesn't even start to make sense in the context of my post. Care to try again?

Maybe it's just me but isn't he talking about his own fans there not us, i.e. the Forest fans at the City Ground can learn a lot from those that travelled - it wasn't a dig at us.

It's been said before, that our home support is no worse or better than anyone else,
and we provide a great venue for away fans to enjoy a "wemb-er-ley" win.

We've had 2 dodgy performances and the desperation to score is getting to us as well as the players,
but the atmosphere against Wolves was fantastic, so the vocal support is there and will return.

It won't happen, but strip out Y26 to a safe terrace, and you'll get a better noise!
