I really do hope our lads turn this around and pull it off on Tuesday night taking us to Wembley! According to the site we've sold about 16000 seats and I really hope we get the numbers up. I just hope the players turn up on Tuesday and finish off Burnley's hopes for the play off final!

Come on U ROYALZZZZZZ

It is said in life you make your own luck and that applies in football as well.
When did we last get a lucky break in a game ??????
Against Sheff. Utd we were marginally the better side Kitson hits the bar the ball comes out within a couple of minutes the ball is at the other end of the ground they hit the bar ball comes out and seconds later the ball is in the net. What is the difference luck and three points to Sheff. Utd.
23 days later playing Brum evenly fought game ball comes out referee gets in the way of Reading player a simple shot is then allowed to go under the body of goalkeeper. We end up losing.
On saturday we play Burnley are definetly the better side more than worth a 0-0 draw and out of the blue a penalty given away and then taken by the deadliest penalty taker in the world(?????). Result we lose.
When did we last get a break of ANY SORT not for some time. Perhaps we not get something on Tuesday because it is always said that over a season things even themselves out.
We must be due something on tuesday.

Lighten up. There are too many negative sods on the team board. Which is why i try and stay away from it.

Ian Royal Really? two great saves made because he happened to be standing where the players who shot put it almost straight at him. Admittedly the Tabb one was pretty excellent, but it was still almost right at him. Doyle put his straight at the defender on the line.

You couldn't make it up...oh, you have. Perfect example of narrow-minded negativity to illustrate typical intemperance of "your" team.

Tabb had to run onto a ball laid back to him, with defenders closing on him from both sides and send in a first-time shot without blinking. There's only one relevant rule for shooting at goal - GET IT ON TARGET. Anything after that is a bonus. I've watched the game several times now and the huge blur of shirt and fist flying across to its right to somehow parry the shot away is, in fact, Jensen who was airborne and moving in defiance of his tendency to stand still and catch shots hit "straight" at him.

 no.1

Doyle's was an instant reaction to a header being parried back at him by the keeper..in that instant, he guided it away from an opponent who can use any part of his body to prevent the ball going in and towards a part of the goal which, yes, contained a body, but had he taken a touch of any sort, it would have been smothered by someone else.

 no.2

Agreed. Tabb's shot was all you could ask for, venomous and rising towards the top of the net but Jensen made a fantastic save. Arguably Marek should have laid the ball back to Kebe afterwards, but who would you trust - Marek from a tight angle or Jimmy from...well, anywhere on the pitch really?

As for Doyler's effort - striker's instinct, aim for the corner. So often in those situations, it's when the ball's mis-hit that the player scores.

The second-half chance? Yes, looks like Kebe took one touch too many but the defender was always between him and Kitson and again, what do you trust: Jimmy getting the pass right or, as he tried to do, him getting a bit of daylight beyond the defender before laying it across?

Thin margins (as was where the shirt-tug happened) and it's made me realise why people refer to the playoffs as a lottery, because Burnley got out of jail on Saturday and now really only need a par performance to get the draw that will see them through.

my only reason for hope is that when everyone has written us off, we usually come out a shove it down their throats

but that is a very long shot

Maybe the "luck" will be in the injury count.
They lost Gudjonnsen who was only playing because their best midfielder IMHO Wade Elliott was injured and then Eagles got injured.
We have Doyle (who hasn't played recently anyway) injured and Bryn (who also hasn't played for ages) either injured or having suffered from cramp.
If Little is fit can't you just see the headlines about the ex-player coming back to haunt them etc?
We have an even chance of progressing-I think Burnley froze on the day out of expectations and it will be the mentally strongest side that will go through.

I'm basing all my optimism on someone, somewhere on here saying they met Jay Tabb at the motorway services after the game and him saying "don't worry, we'll do it".

I'm going to put a ton on us getting through (really).

Watford . . . 3.13pm on 20th September 2008.

Could there be a referees conspiracy to make up for that? How many times have we been denied penalties, especially in home games, in the last 5 months.

Optimism, eh? Tabb just has to score soon, he gets into a decent shooting position at least once every game and he's usually on-target. Longy is due one, too, and Kebe is looking a bit more threatening coming in from the left. Pearce is solid as a rock, and it would be just like him to get up and get a goal from a header from a corner. On top of that, Burnley looked leggy on Saturday, and have even more injuries than we do. With Marek pulling the strings and the full-backs bombing on, an early goal will set us up nicely for a 3-0 win.

Wish I believed all that.

John Peel Oh my god, I still can't believe people think we can do it. Sorry to spoil the optimism. I am usually an optimist but I've finally succumbed.

At home, we have scored one goal (that was our own) since 9 January and haven't won since 27 January. Our pitch is awful, the players have (even more so now after that) no confidence and some of them are just waiting for the transfer window to open. We have about as much chance of winning as Gordon Brown has of winning the next election.

It ceases to amaze me how people can still be optimistic about getting to Wembley. Fair play to you though. I wish I was the same!

EPR
Vicky Pollard bikey out

Which is a GOOD THING based on tonights performance.

What utter shite. Bikey was superb and hardly put a foot wrong, then got the wrong side and conceeded a soft penalty (which may have been outside the box). Then he lost it, for which there is no excuse. But up until then his performance had been rock solid.

agreed he was quality and i just hope pearce and doobs dont get found out

I have to say that you could well be right. However for me blind hope and optimism in the face of contrary facts is part of being a football fan and I won't give up hope until Tuesday evening is over. Much much much stranger things have happened and the players feel a sense of injustice and bad luck. I remember last time we lost a game at Burnley we dominated, we went on to spank Bristol City 4-1 (should have been 4-0 too, offside flag stayed down though.)

I should also add that if we do it that post could well be dug up again for ridicule.

Royalwaster With Doyle, Hunt and Lita injured who are we going to have on the bench as a striker? Mooney, Church, ... ? Am I forgetting someone?

Quite possibly Kitson or Long.

Frightening isn't it? It wouldn't be very Coppell like to throw in a kid. More chance of ending up with a player out of posistion instead. Great en it!
