its a total missapropriation of the word though. its whose. you wouldnt put it in an essay because itd be wrong.

Sorry but you are wrong. I hate to defend the originator of the phrase used, but it certainly is not a place where whose is the right word. It should be written in full as who is and so, if you feel the need to abbreviate, the apostrophe is correct and who's will be quite reasonable.

However,
misappropriation is the right spelling. Sentences start with capitalised letter, and if you insist on adulterating the language do use an apostrophe - it'd (as in it would) and It's (as in it is), wouldn't as in would not).

my total and incongruous ignoring of punctuation to one side whose is considered by the OED to be a perfectly suitable and acceptable substitute for who is e.g. whose afraid of the big bad wolf? or whose got the car keys?. i'm not stressing the point that i'm right, i'm merely looking for clarification now. you are shaking the pillars of my linguistic foundation.

i would put the Vast majority on Coppell for picking Michael Duberry. For me Duberry is the biggest contributer to the shite football we played after xmas.

You are still wrong though. Whose is not a perfectly suitable substitute for who is as your link showed. Whose is the possessive form and who's is the contraction of who is or who has.

I wanted to put a half each in the Coppell and player boxes but had to settle for the former, because at the end of the day it all goes back to the manager the one person who makes the most decisions and let's face it he a lot of crap ones this season. Not forgetting the second half of last season.
I have previously said that we played with no luck at all this year but you make your own in life and football.Perhaps we used all ours up before Christmas.
From the games I have seen there is one area of play I reckon we have missed out big time and this has been mentioned previously in this discussion. HOW MANY GOALS DID WE SCORE THIS SEASON FROM 25 YARDS OR MORE ???? Can anyone tell me ? In the 14 games or so I saw I cannot remember one. We seem too scared to shoot from any sort of distance, and that must cost goals.

It's "who's" as in "who is".

Simple.

I blame the "peace cup" in korea, we went there to play some of the biggest clubs in the world and spent the whole time defending, not playing the "Reading way". After that we lost our formation, and could never get playing like we did for them two seasons.

Snowball
yuomi i want to blame fate. for its confluence of events that could not have been conceived or contrived by any sentient man or beast. that and the fact that the beer was even more watered down this season...

On that count, in the last game we lost to two outstanding (freakish?) goals

There was a goal of the season against us at Plymouth

There was another great run and shot from distance, Forest?

a very very good scissor kick v us for Ipswich

a keeper who had a blinder in the league 1-0 defeat at Burnley

The off-the-bar that doesn't result in a goal (for us) and a minute later a goal for them off the bar and then knocked in

Even the phantom goal worked against us. We were looking winners but the PG got Watford riled up

Seriously, have we been a tad unlucky this season?

I believe we have. We've also been the losers more times from key refereeing decisions than the benificiaries. Case in point on Tuesday with the decision not to send the goalkeeper off for deliberate handball outside the area to prevent a goal scoring opportunity. Still lost 2-0 would we? I don't think so.

I think it worked massively against us if you look at the clear cut penalty decisions that just weren't awarded. It felt like every ref we had after that wanted to correct the mistake

when relacing "is" as in who is this "who's this" (indefinate aricle?)

whose would be used in the context "whose shoes are these" (definate article?) where "is" would be wholly inappropriate -"who is shoes are these" would be just stupid

Of course it's a combination of things but I'd put the major causes in this order

Players
Coppell
Pitch
Fans
Refs

Players being the major issue.

Where is the Carlos Tevez option?

If only Sheff Utd hadnt been relegated first season they could have gone instead of us second season meaning we wouldnt have been relegated until this season and all the other sides have been poor so anything could have happened

Otherwise maybe we should have just listed then in order of blame or maybe a top three

1. Players - Well its always there fault
2. The Manager - Just could turn it around
3. Sh*t Refs - They were worse than usual

Surely I can't be the only one to notice that the slide has taken place entirely within Barack Obama's presidency?

We've only won 5 out of 20 games since he was inaugurated, whereas we'd won 18 of 32 this season under George Bush.

All you simpletons who wanked yourselves silly over his election, now you get to see the grim reality of Obama's new world order.
