LoyalRoyalFan I am a bit annoyed that Lita has been let go. I felt he could of offered a bit more to a new manager.

Same.

These releases indicate that we are most certainly going to change this summer.
I don't expect us to buy a new goalkeeper, but a new centre back and a strong leader may be on the agenda.

GK: Federici, Andersen, Hamer
RB: Rosenior, Kelly
CB: Pearce, Ingimarsson, Bikey, Cisse

I'll miss Hahnemann, he was a strong character and a good goalkeeper, but this season has shown him to be slowly 'deteriorating', and Murty has become far too injury prone for us.
Expect him to be on BBCRB and MOTD2 more often. :|

Archie's penalty Touche. But then the whole team was out of position due to Marek's 98th wayward pass of the game.

He picked the ball up in his own half/on the half way line.
He ran practically the whole half without being closed down by Duberry, Harding, Gunarsson, Pearce or Tabb. I accept that it was Matejovsky's fault for giving the ball away, but it was also the defenders' fault for not doing their job.

Slightly surprised Duberry is off but then again he was prolly on some Premiership wage so now we can get two average centre halves for the same cost as one average centre half.

Royalee Disappointed Gunnarsson's been offered another year as I'd much rather look to bring someone new in or use Karacan, Tabb, Cisse and Marek. Other than that very pleased that the likes of Hahnemann, Murty, Lita and Duberry have gone and would like to thank the former two for all they've done for the club.

Very similar sentiments for once, although I'd also add Duberry to those to thank.

I see no reason to wait for a new manager to say he doesn't want those players, I don't think this says anything about a new manager being consulted or internally appointed. It just shows Hammond's competence (mostly).

It's not rocket science most of them are past it or not worth retaining. The whole point is a fresh start and we have a large squad full of decent or mediocre players.

As others have commented on but I've yet to see a satisfactory answer:

1) Why get rid of Lita? A fantastic player who may have had a dip in form because of his poor relationship with Coppell. I as very much looking forward to renewed enthusiasm under another boss. Getting rid of him is a real shame.

2) Who on earth is making these decisions???? Whilst we've got the players here surely it'd make mroe sense to let the new manager decide whether he wants to get rid of the players to free up wages for other people he'd rather have, or to hold onto them. Now they're released they're gone for good with no chance. I don't get it.

On a day of sadness, I am delighted that Bryn has got another year.

With our young lads in midfield needing a bit of coaching and reigning-in occasionally, it's great to know that we still have some "no nonsense" experience to call on when needed.

A dip of form that has lasted, as far as we're concerned, since March 2007

I dread to think what happens when he really goes on a goal drought. :|

Its the right thing to do, but really sad to say goodbye to Coppell, Dillon, USA and Murts within the space of a few days. It only seems like yesterday they all joined us.

Murts and USA signed for a division 2 side and ended up becoming Premiership class. Truly amazing feat.

Thanks for the memories 8)

Not surprising, someone else is going to have to turn Goldbourne into a decent player and one can only assume Leeds are going to offer something for Sodje as part of his loan contract

1) Off the pitch problems, attitude issues, failure to produce anything for the club in 2 years. Hell, even Kitson who was a shadow of his former self scored twice this season for us.

2) the DoF is making these decisions, based on the entire of last season and more and the advice of the coaches and ex-manager. Business did not stop when Coppell Resigned and the club does not go into Stasis. I see no reason why a new manager would really have wanted those players.

I'm happy to answer these.

2 world wars, 1 world cup 1) Why get rid of Lita? A fantastic player who may have had a dip in form because of his poor relationship with Coppell. I as very much looking forward to renewed enthusiasm under another boss. Getting rid of him is a real shame.

His own opinion of himself, what he's worth and what he can do makes him an utter twat who's a complete nightmare in the dressing room. If you're good you can get away with having his sort of attitude, but when he's had chances to establish himself in the team he's not taken them. If he'd stayed at Norwich I'm convinced we'd have gone up - is it any coincidence that when he came back from Norwich is almost exactly when the season fell apart?

2 world wars, 1 world cup 2) Who on earth is making these decisions???? Whilst we've got the players here surely it'd make mroe sense to let the new manager decide whether he wants to get rid of the players to free up wages for other people he'd rather have, or to hold onto them. Now they're released they're gone for good with no chance. I don't get it.

Being fair to players and releasing them at a time when they have a chance of getting other clubs - leaving it late and then releasing them once other clubs have signed up players for next year would be nasty - and that's not the reading way.

Start scoring own goals perhaps?

Irrelevant how bad his form is at the mo and for how long because for all that time he was unhapy under Coppell. Fact is he was once great and it *may* be the case that Coppell was the problem. I don't necessarily believe this, just putting it out there. Sad to see him go.

He was impressive for two brief periods more than two years ago. He is yet to really prove himself at this level. Much better to make room for new blood

I'd argue with that - he certainly had the potential to become great, and we saw flashes of it, but his attitude and his outside activities stopped him realising that potential.

I'm delighted he's gone - but then again he was always going to leave now.

Archies Left Foot
Ian Royal He has a poor disciplinery record

Looking at the disciplinary tables for this season he doesn't even make the top 20, and there are players here whom you wouldn't naturally consider being agggressive or poor with their discipline.

http://www.football-league.co.uk/page/D ... 87,00.html

And for the last time we were in the championship

http://www.football-league.co.uk/page/D ... 57,00.html

He only played half the games. How many of those above him played most of a season?

Most of the players aren't defenders, the point is Central Defenders can't have a poor discipline record.

The defenders on that list:

W Morgan. 46 games, 6 yellows 1 red
C Hill. 48 games, 7 yellows
M Leigerterwood. 46 games, 8 yellow 1 red.
AND
A Bikey. 28 games 6 yellow 2 red.

Argue that if you can.

Sad to see Marcus and Murts go, Doobs too to a lesser extent. As far as Lita is concerned, I reckon he made it clear he wanted to leave, so SSC going made no difference.

I guess Fed is now the No.1 keeper, with Hamer 2nd choice? Can't see us splashing the cash this Summer, whatever a new manager wants. He'll probably be told he has to sell before he can buy. We'll just replace those leaving with the Academy youngsters coming through.
