i still think its a stupid suggestion. this is feds best opportunity to claim the no.1 spot and if he goes anywhere else i feel he'd be less likely to have that opportunity. anderson will no doubt be number 2 and as for hamer, i agree with you on that. he played alrite at brentford and im sure if he went back he'd be playing every game for them.

dont take the piss that im in plymouth because i was born in reading and ive only got 3 more weeks down here at uni before i move to "London
"
try reading outside the box, then try not calling me an idiot. Simples Jannar

a jannar is someone that was born in plymouth.....idiot[/quote]you have embraced them well my friend

Royalee Yes, he's good enough.

'Greed.
I don't see why this is a 'situation'.
Fed has proven himself at this level and at international level, and is bound to improve the more games he gets.
He's rated highly among many, someone (I forget who) said he'd be the Aussie #1 in the future.
With a stable defense in front of him (Ingi + Pearce/Bikey) he should have no problems.

I think Federici is an adequate goalkeeper currently. He is still very young for a goalkeeper, so can improve. Whilst I think the competition from Andersen and Hamer is enough.

I think money should be spent elsewhere in the squad.

No doubting Fedders ability to carry the responsibility on his shoulders but has he got the mental strength to carry the whole season. He needs to sharpen his positioning and confidence in his CB partnerships but with a fit Ingi back and Bikey off his 4 match ban, things should be solid enough for the squad to develop confidence in positioning and ability.

Come the new season it will be interesting to see the depth of the squad and if this comes into play.

Goalkeepers always improve with age. Is it possible that AFed is a tad too young at the mo? Someone late 20s would be a more attractive proposition.

Reading aren't the club to let a player go without having sufficient back-up lined up

if they don't see federici as the next one i'm sure they will have someone else in mind

No, you're not. I can't believe he's been given the boot either. Still good enough for this club and should have been shown some loyalty in my opinion.

Fed is no better than Hahnemann, and just as inconsistant. I really don't feel that inspired knowing he's the current no.1 :|

Federici is likely to get better. Hahnemann is likely to get worse.

Besides, its hardly beyond reason that a new manager and new staff may decide to *Gasp* sign a new goalkeeper!

Bring back Jamie Ashdown. He won't get a game at Pompey, he's Reading born and bred and if we get Rodgers that could swing it for him.

We have a goalkeeping coach and a former goalkeeper as DoF. I think that they must know what they are doing.

Didn't Marcus want to go back to USA soon anyway?

Some Brentford fans I know have been very impressed with Hamer. He is still only 21.

My mate is a Brentford fan where Hamer is on loan. He was gutted to find out we had released MH. He thinks Hamer is fantastic and s scared we will now call hm back.

moo Well with Hahnemann gone, how will our goalkeeping situation change?
Distribution will improve for starters.

Good point. We may have a goalkeeper now that can kick the ball onto the pitch and not into the stands.

He's had plenty of loyalty over the years but fact of the matter is that he's going to be 37 when the next season kicks off and I bet he would want a fair amount more than the alternatives after being on a Premiership contract for 3 years

Fed showed he isnt far behind Marcus during his time in the side but he still doesnt convince me 100%. Marcus is still a very good keeper, but I agree with the clubs stance of clearing the decks for a new manager, and kicking off a new era by moving forward and freshening up the squad

Its a bit of a shame that the new manager hasnt been able to come in and make his own decisions though
