Doobs leaving is a bit of a surprise.... i wouldn't expect him to play but more of an adviser to the younger players, who could play if we needed him to.
Lita is going to be a mistake i reckon... should have been given longer in the team to shine... a new manager could have got the best out of him... the reserves did... he scored over double the amount of goals then anyone else in the reserves (and only 3 less than doyle got in the 1st team) in only 9 games... even in the reserves, thats excellent form, deserving of a chance.
I reckon he had more to do with it than anyone... i was under the impression he was fed up of playing his socks off in the reserves and still not being given a chance against a group of strikers who weren't producing.
Gutted to see murty and marcus leave though.
lol at everyone saying how glad they are that gunnarsson is staying... wasn't that long ago he was the hob nob scape goat! (im kind of indifferent to him staying)

2 world wars, 1 world cup 1) Why get rid of Lita?
Maybe we didn't have a choice in the matter, He was out of contract and had failed to agree a new deal previously.

papereyes
moo Its the right thing to do, but really sad to say goodbye to Coppell, Dillon, USA and Murts within the space of a few days. It only seems like yesterday they all joined us.

Murts and USA signed for a division 2 side and ended up becoming Premiership class. Truly amazing feat.

Thanks for the memories 8)

Strictly USA didn't.

But yeah. Amazing feat

Yeh but sadly not amazing feet in USA's case!

Although he's been pretty sh1t for us over the last 2 years I think someone's going to get some decent goals out of him somewhere. He just needs the right sort of manager and Coppell just wasn't that for him. Come to think of it he's been a pretty big waste of £1m al in all...

It's the best news we've had for a while: a sign the club will be moving on. New contracts for a few youngsters and the release of Duberry and Hahnemann are good for the future of the club.

Please stop trying to defend lita!! Coppell gave him way too many chances for lita to then go and throw them back in his face for his antics off the pitch!! He is a player that is full of attitude! Even on the pitch he was strutting around the placem

He's a big time charlie who I think needed the reality check of playing in the reserves... I'n glad the mofo has gone!

Rant over!

Even if we had offered new deals to the likes of Lita, then who's to say he would have signed anyway? He needs the transfer as much as we need him off our books. He won't be too dissapointed now he's out of the club, they'll be a handful of clubs willing to take a punt on him and being a free agent, he can demand better wages with no transfer fee to pay out.

So by your theory, any one who doesn't act correctly off the pitch should be sold by their club, arsenal should have sold adams, everyone should have sold gasgoine, Leicester should have sold ALL of their players, spurs should be in the process of selling Ledley King?
Ok, maybe he needed being knocked down a peg and being put in the reserves.... he was and proved that he was worthy of a starting place... he was in better form than other strikers (besides Long)
His attitude can't have been that bad... what was his thinking? 'ah yeah, i'm the sh*t, i'm a proffessional footballer who hasn't been a regular starter since 2005' ?

Lita proved nothing in the reserves other than he was better than the quality of defenders he was up against. Something no one ever doubted. He still failed completely in th efirst team, in at least 3 or 4 runs of games over 2 years.

His record with us previously was based on two short periods of banging goals in. He has not done it consistently over a decent period of time since leaving Bristol.

He has never been in the team long enough to have a consistent decent period, the most games he played for us in 1 season is 26 (and he scored 14 in that time, against premiership opposition)
He proved himself in this league while he was at Norwich... 7 goals in 16 games isn't too bad, its about level with Doyle, the only striker at the club who had a much better rate was Long.

4 games, 1 cup goal against 2 tiers lower opposition, 3 defeats
3 games, no goals, awful miss after awful miss
3 games, no goals
3 games, 1 goal against the worst ever Prem team who were already 3-0 down.
3 games, no goals, shit performances, we improved once he was dropped and we got a left back.
8 games, 1 goal against a team being slaughtered, return coincided with the beginning of our abysmal form.

The reason he spent only short runs in the team? Because he was shit and added nothing in all of them. That's plenty of chances. He got first team football on loan twice to regain some sort of form, and came back with the same shit attitude every time and never translated that form into anything for us.

We are well rid.

It's utterly amazing that people are still blindly clinging onto the mantra that Lita is the answer when surely it's blatantly obvious that for whatever reason he is bad news. He's had chances and not set the world on fire, and there always seems to be something that makes trouble find its way to him like a iron fillings are attracted to a magnet.

Frankly, his great potential has long since evaporated and for the past 18 months+ he's been nothing but trouble and damage.

It's not just about how a player plays on the pitch (although he's done nothing to warrant special treatment) - it's also about their attitude and about their influence in the dressing room and at the training ground, and Lita has done immense damage there.

In fact, I'd say that there's only one player in recent years who's done greater damage to us in the dressing room and at the training ground, and he's ginger with an ego the size of a planet.

Sad, but glad for the cull.

We need a fresh start, the make do era is well gone. New faces will freshen things up.

Little surprised about USA, not a huge fan of Fed, not sure we'll buy anyone better than Marcus. Hopefully becoming number 1 will be the making of Fed.

We need a new spine to the side, 6 - 7 new faces plus hopefully 2 or 3 of the youngsters to establish themselves. Well prob lose another 5 - 6 players including Kitson and Little. Exciting times.

I was discussing this with my housemates earlier, and I realise that on the face of things we've weakened our first team. I mean, we've realised our first choice keeper from the last 5 years, our club captain, our team captain for the last 10-odd games, and our one-time record signing. Doesnt make us look too good IMHO
