If he scores 3 goals in one game will it be called a trinity instead?

I just hope Church vows to work hard, practices what he preaches and aspires to do well...er for the greater good.

Amen.

I`m going to the game as I only live 45 mins from Llanelli where the game is being held. Good luck to Simon Church, hopefully he`ll` do himself, RFC and his country proud. Wales are playing quite a few youngsters in the game and hopefully Church will get a half or more playing time under his belt. Good luck.

Can I claim my prize. On an earlier thread debating whether Karacan, Pearce or Henry would be the first of our academy to gte a cap, I made the point that Church would do it first. Get in

Ludicrously played out of position v Burnley and did as well as could have been expected.
I saw 2 of his games for the Welsh U21s last season partnering Sam Voakes up front and he did well.
The step up to first team football even at Championship level is considerable but he has a chance and I wish him well.

Church has played most of his league football out wide in a 4-5-1/4-3-3 so not sure why you think he was played out of position

He looks to me like a striker who has a fair amount of talent and pace, but just doesn't have the knack for scoring a lot, or being in the right place at the right time.

And i don't think he's got what it takes to be converted to midfield or wing either. I think he'll be a nearly man and find a role as a lower league 2nd striker. But that's just gut feeling based on very little evidence.

I honestly wish him all the best. If Long can show some skill and convince me I may have been overly harsh on him I'm sure Simon could well do it as well. I certainly hope he can.

For Wales he played through the middle and scored 2 goals in one of those games-looks like an orthodox striker to me..

Totally agree.

I actually thought he did ok against Burnley, without ever actually doing anything to really make an impact. If he'd been a bit sharper he could well have given us the lead though.

Think he played through the middle for the U18's on the few occassions I saw him for them. Like Ian said he just looks to be lacking in something to make him that effective through there.

His loan spells have definately seen him play as one of the wide forwards in a front 3 though, similar to how he played for us against Burnley, and perhaps that seems to be his natural position at the moment.

He took his two goals well for the U21's, but his goalscoring record outside of that game isn't much to get excited about so I'm not sure he looks like an out and out centre forward to me.
