Did anyone go to Stuart Beavons testimonial at Elm Park?

Can't remember, but I do remember Martin Hicks' testimonial, it was against Tottenham Hotspur and Gazza played for them - he scored a cracking goal. It was the only time I've ever clapped an opposition goal.

Pretty sure I went, and I can picture the program which will be in the loft somewhere, but can't remember too much about it.

I seem to recall Gordon Neate's testimonial too....some special players on display that day!

I was there. It was a bitterly cold tuesday night around 1990/91 and I stood on the Tilehurst End terrace. I remember a pretty awful game between the current Reading side and a team of 'legends'.

The crowd can only have been a couple of thousand, hardly a suitable tribute to a real Reading stalwart. Stuart Beavon was one of my favourite players, an automatic choice throughout most of the 80's and a real big game player. If his lad is anything like Stuart SNR was then he'll be a cracking player.

Moved from Weymouth to Wycombe earlier this season and started quite well.

Wouldn't say he was too firey at all either.

I vaguely remember the current team absolutely knacking the legends team to such an extent that when the current team won a penalty late on they let Stuart Beavon take it as it was the only way he was ever going to score in his own tesemonial.
