TBM
Stranded The Peterboro statement said that we had told them we had a shortlist of 4 and had assured them Ferguson was not on it.

They know, because the club told them.

Fair enough, but why cant Reading tell us, the fans, the same thing?

Because it's not "The Reading Way" - they don't make any of their business dealings public, to supporters or to anyone else.

They presumably told Peterborough in confidence, not expecting them to immediately put that info up on their website.

But then again I'm not surprised - Barry Fry does think ethics is a company that makes plastic model aeroplane kits.

I would assume the news was not meant to be made public but came out of talks we had with Peterboro regarding the possibility of talking to Ferguson. When the Ferguson story went public Peterboro made the shortlist statement public to appease their own fans.

RFC would not have wanted it to come public I would say.

M-U-R-T-Y Rodgers, Irvine, Curbs and Poyet.

pretty sure Poyet isn't on the list, he has no experience whatsoever and hasn't exactly been briliant where he's been an assistant manager either

I would rather have Bullivant back instead of Poyet.

The 4? I would guess at Curbs, Martinez, Rodgers and Joe Royle.

inside info: The club were unhappy with the standard of applicants
If BR is offered the job - he will accept it... basically it's a done deal!

Definitely not Martinez. With Wigan and Celtic both after him and likely to be willing to pay several million to get him we'd just as well put Ancellotti on the list !

Rodgers, Tisdale, Curbishley, Irvine would seem fair bets although let's hope Curbishley drops out

Ignoring the fact that we can't offer him the job without Watford's say so !

Of course 99% of contenders would accept the job if offered it, and Rodgers would love it with his family connections and past history.

I've heard from a Watford employee that they will play hard ball over compensation but in reality will settle for whatever they can get as they are desperately short of cash. I suspect it may be a question of coming up with a scenario that allows all involved to come out with some dignity - Rodgers isn't seen to talk out on a contract, Watford can claim they have got 'realistic' compensation and we haven't paid over the odds.

no not one of his relations!! My source knows both NH & BR. As soon as it's been announced I will tell you!! but even if Watford had denied RFC talking to BR he still would've met with the club and would have just done it the back handed way!

Just hang on a minute before we all go jumping to conclusions.

Are you saying that the club has asked Watford's permission to talk to him (which they would have to do to include him in the interview process anyway) or that they have now made the approach to offer him the job having interviewed him and decided he is the top man for the post. The 2 are not mutually inclusive.

If the request to watford was to allow us to interview him then that says nothing more than we all assumed - he is in the running.
