They've got a cheek and short memories. I've never forgiven them for stealing Trevor Senior when we were on the verge of greatness.

I love this thread and the way that it reflects all that is irrational in football.

At the onset, I would say that a large number of Watford supporters on that site, dont know their football from their arses, have a serious 'Look at me' psychology and are just a general poor man's supporter - clueless and insignificant.

Anybody who whines like a pussy about any managerial/ chairman agreement, be it Rodgers, be it McGhee or be it Pardew, is exactly what the whining pussy moniker implies - they are a pussy. Honestly, who cares. And to suggest he came here for the money is laughable - that just shows a severe lack of understanding of football full stop; and its pretty worrying that a good chunk of Watford supporters dont appear to know that Rodgers has spent a good chunk of his career at this club. Its not that hard to use Wikipedia, is it?

So LOL at clueless Watford supporter.
A double LOL at taking your manager.
LOL at anybody even bothering to compare him to Pardew or McGhee
and a big LOL at anybody giving the remotest flying f*ck what Rodgers implied in what he said to the press.

And, oh, if anybody did it for the money, it was the Watford chairman.

Glorious comedy. Are there people who seriously think we should have chosen our manager from the dole queue?

Chairman Sir John said Rodgers was head and shoulders above all the other candidates on the club’s managerial shortlist, which included names such as Alan Curbishley, Aidy Boothroyd and Duncan Ferguson.

Duncan Disorderly, not Darren...

There is a marked difference beyween the Rodgers and Pardew stories - and it is a key one to the approach of the clubs involved.

When AP declared his loyalty to Reading it was against a backdrop of RFC's refusal to release him to talk to West Ham. He resigned from this club before being formally or openly interviewed by West Ham, having quite obviously had an under the counter approach to make it clear that the job was his. Nothing that either he or West Ham did was morally clean.

Reading asked Watford for permission to interview Rodger and they agreed. He came willingly to attend the interview. It is pretty clear that you don't normally go to a job interview with a rival unless you plan to accept if offered the post. Reading and Rodgers are morally very clean on this one.

Of course Watford fans are upset, that is quite normal for just about any bunch of fans who have lost a manager- but let's not miss the facts here.

+1

And on the FSB situation did he not agree to stay and shake Sir Johns hand the night before he decided to leave?

Only the two people who were together that night know whether that is true or not! IIRC McGhee subsequently recounted a somewhat different version of events.

In stark contrast, I believe Parjudas asserted his love of RFC and his desire to stay with the club for a very long time to a whole load of supporters at a fans' forum!! Little point in disputing his treachery!

I'm glad that we have now got the right man for the job and have done so in a completely open, honest and above board manner.

I agree that Watford fans have nothing more to gripe about than say Brighton fans did when Steve Coppell left them to join us five and half years ago. He was under contract to Brighton - we approached and he ended up joining us.

As others have said the difference is whether or not the club agree to the approach. Peterborough did not and we backed off.

Having said that I don't really even blame Pardew for what he did. Let's face it if any of us were offered a job with a larger competitor of our current employer at twice the money we would be tempted. Additionally football managers may only have one of possibly two opportunities when they are "hot property". Currently Brendan is deemed hot property but if he had stayed with Watford and they had not done well next season the fans would soon have turned on him. The opportunity was there and he took it - the same as Pardew did with West Ham. And with Pardew although I join in the pantomime booing when he comes to the Madstad, I would still have welcomed him back as manager if Sir John had forgiven him (not that that was very likely). And I really am glad that we have Rodgers instead. Well done Sir John.

Reading are the new L*t*n

Reasons why.

1) They feckin' cheat by scoring goals against us that don't actually go in the feckin' net.

2) They nick our fat, ugly greedy manager.

3) They try and look like QPR

4) They are cants

Someone tell those prats we wore the fuking hoops first! Please!! I hate that comment!

I do find all this hating after 6 months of management rather amusing. It makes me feel a bit  about how upset and mad I was when Pards left us. Although maybe if we were 13th and they were currently 2nd in the league, and he'd been with them for 4 years and then just quit the job so he could get a worse one for more money, they'd have a point.

1) I'M pissed about that goal! We'd have won it if not for that! And they're secretly very pleased about it for the same reasons. Why do you think their then manager turned down our offer of replaying the game? He knew we'd win 3-0 second time round.

2) We didn't nick him, we asked them if we could have him, and after haggling over the price, they agreed

3) Speak for yourself
